Help finding a swimsuit please.

Hi, I am going away with the girls in a few weeks (first time without children and dp) we are going to a hotel with a swimming pool, sauna and having a beauty treatment.
I am very uncomfortable with my weight I am a size 16-18 with a big tummy and thighs and medium sized boobs. my swimming suit is about 7 years old, stretched to its limit and looks awful. I am not really worried about wearing a swimsuit because I am with my 3 best friends but would like a flattering swimsuit so I feel as comfortable as possible.
My budget is about £40 can any of you help find me the perfect suit?
I have seen ones with skirts that look nice but not sure how practical they are, also seen a few from figleaves.com that look nice some have a waistband that is just under the bust and others are lower down, which would be best for a wobbly tummy?
My sense of style is awful, tend to wear whatever fits and hope for the best (with mixed results)

I think look at m&s who do skirted and lots of tummy control ones. I've also always found BHS swimsuits great and Debenhams normally have a large stock.

They are GREAT!! Top quality and the tankinis are extra-long so they don't scrunch up and expose your belly.

Don't get one with a skirt, it makes it more obvious and people look to see what you're hiding rather than just ignoring you, lol

I recommend a skirted swimsuit. I know a pp said everyone knows what you're trying to hide, but swimsuits generally flatter no-one. I am a classic apple shape (size 16 legs, size 20 bust / tummy) and I find my skirted swimsuit makes me feel more comfortable about being round the pool / not having to worry about my belly being exposed. There are some really vintage-look swimsuits about. I got mine in debenhams.

And as long as the skirt is no longer than just below your bum, it's not impractical (and it hides the inevitable wedgie that everyone gets in a swimsuit).

they are definitely not the most flattering item of clothing are they..
Does the skirt stick to your legs when it's wet? also are they heavy when you're swimming?

BHS have good selection. Asda have some great tummy control ones for amazing low prices but don't think they have skirts on them though. Good luck.

Sainsbury's TU have nice tummy controlling suits. I got one not long after having ds they also tamed my out of control boobs

Peacocks have some skirted ones at the moment, not sure about tummy control but they have some nice styles.

I have this one it's pricey but lovely, I felt very confident in it on the beach last summer.

littlebluedog, that is lovely really can't stretch to £70 though . went to the shops this morning, tried lots of swimsuits on and they all looked awful I'm not very tall but have got a long body so they all sat far too high on my legs or to low on my bust if I pulled it down. might have to swim fully clothed

Whenever I see someone ask this question I always always recommend black. It might seem boring, or just a cliche...but it really is the most flattering swimsuit style. A onepeice with good structural support and bust detailing would really work for your figure I think.

I have to agree with previous comments - a skirt really does draw attention to the area you are trying to hide. In the past, I've invested in a really nice kaftan/mini dress bandeau style of clothing to match a swimsuit. I actually think these look classy in the spa/by the pool whatever your shape or size.

I always think "yeah she looks good, she's put some thought into her look"...rather than "oh she wanted to hide her bum so she bought a skirt swimsuit"... does that make sense...?

This site has a good selection of black items with matching kaftans and might be worth a look. I've ordered from here before and got the wrong size, but it is free returns!

M&S do a great range of tummy control one piece swimsuits. I wear a size 20 and I still feel good. How about a sarong for when you are walking or lounging? If you are getting treatments won't they give you an attractive (not!!) dressing gown. Take some flip flops. Have fun, sounds a great treat.

I am a size 16, ample bust and 5'5". I got the John Lewis control swimsuit with a twist front in black for upcoming holidays. It really makes me fee less 'lumpy bumpy' and the v neck draws the attention away from my tummy. I think it was £50. Sorry on phone so can't send a link.
