Best home IPL

I've just read the thread about laser hair removal & was wondering for those of you that have a home IPL system...which one do you have & what do you think of it? Is it worth the investment?
I'm having 6 sessions of IPL at a clinic at the moment, but they're already trying to sell me more & I'm wondering if having my own system at home would be better sense financially.

One of my friends has the Philips Lumea but it doesn't claim to remove hair permanently and she still uses it quite regularly. Plus it only treats a small area before it needs recharging, so it is quite time consuming to use.

I have had salon treatments and find that they work okay but the hair still grows back after a while. I think you need a pretty strong laser for permanent removal, and most salons don't use the stronger lasers. The one I went to used a Soprano XL which is pain-free but I'm not convinced it is the most effective laser. Plus my hair is not that dark, so I am probably not the best candidate for laser treatment.

I have Phillips luminea or what ever it's called and is fab! Not used fir a while due to pregnant with dc3 and bf will easily do underarms and bikini in one 'charge' but only one half leg at a tine before needs recharging.

Was utterly fabulous when used it after dc2 looking forward to using it again v soon

I got the Silk'n flash and go from Amazon in the Black Friday deals. It was dirt cheap so I thought I'd give it a go! I've only used it on my face so far but there there was definitely a noticeable reduction. Having said that there were a few hairs coming back when I hadn't used it for 4 weeks so I think you do have to persevere. The instructions do say you need to use it for 18 months to get the full benefit though.

And to answer your question I do think it is worth the investment. The hair comes back eventually even with salon laser or IPL so you will always need more sessions. I was skeptical at first - had laser about 6 years ago which was fantastic but the hair has been gradually coming back for about 4 years. I'm glad I got mine but read Amazon reviews before you buy. Not everyone is happy with the result.

I have a Philips Lumea and it is reasonably good. However I don't tend to get much more than half if one leg per charge so you need lots of spare evenings to do a lot.

Price varies dramatically so I used camelcamelcamel which tracks prices and will notify you when it hoes below a price point you choose.

I have a Phillips one and I use it plugged in. I have to get back to using it again this year.

Last year I did one leg but not the other due to kids playing up. I could see the difference. It us a bit of a pain having to remove all hair to treat bikini line though.

I did A LOT of research into this a couple of months ago, and ended up buying the Boots own one (which also was £100 off last month). I think I saw it reviewed against the Lumea by WIT, but it was a few years ago (lots of Googling research). You need to treat every week for 3 months, then maintenance every month.

I've now done 4 weeks of underarm, bikini and legs, and my hair has noticeably reduced and re growth is slower. My underarms seem most stubborn, but my bikini line has barely grown back, and I don't need to shave my legs in between treatments.

Am quite relieved really after such an outlay.

Amazon has the Remington IPL on deal of the day today at £129.99 down from £349. I've no opinion on the Remington ( I have the Philips Lumea and think it's rubbish) but thought it seemed a good price.

My version won't run off the mains, will only recharge, so if you can get that will allow mains usage that would be helpful

Oh yes, should also add: it's mains charged, so you don't need charge up time. BUT it's a slow process: each half leg takes around 30 mins.
