Tell me about Clarks shoes!

Specifically the fit. I'm normally a 6 but struggle with high street shoes as my feet are quite wide. I need a smart pair of shoes for a wedding and saw a pair I quite liked in Clarks:

I tried them on in the shop in a 6 standard and they seemed "okay" - not blissfully comfy but bearable. They didn't gave the wide fitting in store but they do online. Would it be worth trying them? And if so still in a 6 or in a 5.5?

Help! Hate smart shoe-buying - would rather live in Skechers!

I normally wear a 6.5 wide or 7 normal in Clarks.
It's free delivery and returns so if I were you, I'd order both (and other if you might like them, then just return all the rejects.

I did try this pair on myself but the heel area hurt me. I bought the 'aveda Kendra' (or whatever they were called, sounded like a spell in Harry Potter books) instead as I found them more comfy even though there's no strap which is normally a must for me.

Thanks for the reply, that's really helpful. I did try the avada kedavra on too but I really wanted the look of the stroppy ones.

Bit of a Freudian slip there - it's how I feel about any dressy shoes anyway!!

I wear a Clark's wide 8 and can usually guarantee a comfortable fit.

I'm really impressed today with Clark's customer services. Last summer I bought a pair of gold ballet pumps and loads of the gold has come off. I went in to see if they had any neutral ballet pumps as we are away in a couple of weeks. I asked about a patent pair and was advised they weren't leather (a must for me as I have very smelly feet)

I asked about this year's equivalent to the ones I was wearing as unhappy how tatty they are, the manager was appalled by the condition of the gold, she said she could see they weren't really worn by the sole and the top and us going to refund me for them against a replacement pair.

I wasn't even complaining, just wanted to check not going to have the same problem again and they offered the refund!

Wow that was good of them. That's the sort of service that makes you go back to a company, isn't it?

If you order them to the store then you don't have to pay for them first, only when you have tried them and decided to buy them. Saves having to return the shoes and wait for a refund.

I had a pair of boots for about ten months and they wore really badly. I went to the shop and said I expected them to last a year if I had spent £100 on a pair of boots. The manager agreed with me and gave me new ones. They are good like that.

Charging £40 for a pair of school shoes, though, is a joke

I am normally a 6 but last time I bought shoes from Clark's they didn't fit properly. I ended up with a 5.5 wide. I would never have tried that size on but the woman working there insisted on ordering them in for me and she was right, a perfect fit.

I have those shoes OP.

I bought them for a couple of evening events earlier this year. Very comfy - not a blister in sight.

I even wore them last night to go to the pub - which is 3/4 mile each way. (without tights!)

My feet are quite broad - I bought a 7 wide. I think they run a little small in this style.

I have a few pairs of Clarks' shoes actually - and they last me a few years despite heavy wear.

DS' current school shoes are from the Mens' section - they seem to last him quite well too, before starting to look scruffy.

My size varies, OP. It depends on the style of shoe. Sometimes I can wear a 6wide, or a 7 regular.

I looked at those shoes on Saturday and thought that they ticked all the boxes. Read this thread yesterday so went back and bought them today. Super comfortable and the reviews on the website are good too. I am now fancying them in mushroom.
