I had a spray and it smells pretty good to me.

Dh says he likes it

Reviews are good

It is very cheap

The snob in me thinks it can't be that good because it's so cheap.

What do you think?

I have it...I am not usually keen on anything chanel, so can't say which one it is supposed to be

It lasts fairly well on me, but last time I did buy the shower gel and moisturiser to match, so maybe that helps. Have had folks sniff me appreciatively if that helps at all! :o

Usually £3.99, but last time it was £7 for two things so
even more of a bargain with the shower set!

BeCool · 21/03/2014 16:18

Lots of perfume lasts all day. Some doesn't last very long at all. This seems to vary from person to person but I've not noticed price to be a factor.

I was once unfortunate enough to test out some new Madonna perfume in Boots one lunch hour. It was hideous & I was doused in it. I couldn't wash it off - it was so stuck to me. Poor me as it lasted until I got home and showered!

TheBeautifulVisit · 21/03/2014 17:44

I always think cheap perfume smells like hairspray. Hairspray is probably more expensive though.

FrugalFashionista · 21/03/2014 17:47

Suddenly Madame Glamour is a nicely done knockoff of Coco Mademoiselle. It's a bit weaker - this can be a good thing too Wink - and has a strange cold tea / wet cardboard feel and is quite linear. It only lasts a few hours. Coco Mlle has a nonlinear development and the wearing time is about 12 hours. I have both and have to say that although I generally like Lidl products, life is just too short for 2.99 perfume Grin

Do a side by side - Coco Mlle on your left wrist and SMG on your right - then choose the one you prefer!

That said, Chanel is one of the few mainstream perfume houses that still care about quality and they even have two terrific in-house perfumers - exceptional these days.

ParsleyTheLioness · 21/03/2014 17:55

I liked it, but it just doesn't last on me...Frugal what does linear development mean please?

Technical · 21/03/2014 17:57

LOL Frugal, I think probably life's too short to think about perfume at all.

Linear means that what you smell in the opening continuous throughout until the end - the perfume does not change and evolve. The opposite of linear is a perfume that has different moods built in - sometimes the twists and turns can be quite surprising. Chamade from Guerlain is a typical non-linear perfume (other ideas here). Many non-linear perfumes are difficult to appreciate if you are new to perfume - these days, we've grown to expect a linear development, but an interesting non-linear trajectory requires a lot of craftmanship. (It's a bit like complexity in wine.) Many great modern perfumes are intentionally linear, so it's not a value judgment, just a different style.

Thanks Frugal!

frumpet · 21/03/2014 21:12

I buy it as a work perfume , they do it on offer every so often at £1.99 a bottle , so i stock up . Had loads of comments of the nice variety about it , a lot of people say it smells like chanel , which i keep for special occasions Smile

frumpet · 21/03/2014 21:15

Can i just add that i work with a lot of bodily fluids , so can liberally squirt the stuff on when i go for a wee ( twice in 12 hours ) , which i couldn't afford to do with the real thing iyswim .

Theas18 · 21/03/2014 21:18

It's quite pleasant and not long lasting.

I got some for dd2 as she's heavy handed and it's not going too be overpowering for long :). It's quite grown up though not " seduction on a plate" musky or " grandma floral" M

Longdistance · 21/03/2014 21:20

They tested on the One show iirc, and they blindfolded ladies to test it. The presenter didn't know the difference, but then back tracked snob when she realised it was the Lidl one.

BarbaraPalmer · 21/03/2014 21:21

i have it, and really like it
it definitely doesn't last all day, but TBH i find I need to reapply my chanel at lunchtime as well. I consider the Lidl one my work perfume, and I save the good ones for the weekend and evenings out.

neontetra · 21/03/2014 21:27

My mom got it for me for Christmas - smells like Chanel no 5 on me (which an ex partner used to buy for me - never liked it as a scent for me overly, though he did). It doesn't last as long, though. But if you like it, go for it! At that price why not? I would have if it had suited me more.

tshirtsuntan · 21/03/2014 21:43

A little off the point but they had some big scented candles of this fragrance in our local lidl, nice thick jars, look lovely and smell great ..£3.99....nice Grin

furlinedsheepskinjacket · 22/03/2014 16:46

got mine today I like it.lovely box.

v v light dd says like a body spray but I feel ordinary perfumes can be cloying/heavy and obvious on me

VenusDeWillendorf · 22/03/2014 18:53

I love this, lighter than the oily silage bomb that is eau de mademoiselle and in tests most preferred the lidl dupe.

There was a guardian article on it a year to two ago.

I think it's a better option than the chanel one. But then I feel bad about paying the extortionate price of the Chanel, for something that costs a few cent to make. Even lidl make a profit on 3.99. iCal ALS changes to no7 make up from Chanel, and it's lovely

VenusDeWillendorf · 22/03/2014 18:53

Sorry auto correct i also

TollgateDebs · 22/03/2014 18:58

I have both and they smell fine. I've lots of cheaper perfumes and enjoy the variety of fragrance, which you can only get if you buy cheaper brands. Most of the cost of perfume is paying for the marketing anyway!
