Emergency - Coast Mandy dress , size 18

GreatGooglyMoogly · 18/03/2014 18:21

My friends wants this to be her wedding dress but despite the website showing it as in stock in size 18, Coast say they don't have any :(. She is distraught, to say the least and nowhere else has it in stock online either. Can anyone think of a way I can get this for her? I'm thinking I will need to phone the stores tomorrow to see if they have one I can go and buy. Aaargh! TIA.

GreatGooglyMoogly · 18/03/2014 19:34

I'm not at liberty to say BikeRunSki but the panic is still on for now though she may be able to help.

Shall I just ask if they can advise which stores, if any have the Mandy in an 18 in stock. If none, when will they be back in?

Whoop! Please come back & tell us if she likes it - I really need to know.

TryingToBePractical · 19/03/2014 11:56

Does your friend know you are doing this for her? You seem to be a lovely friend.

isisisis · 19/03/2014 12:06

If it's not ok (hope it is) there's a bit on this morning now (12 noon) about designing your own wedding dress. I've been wondering in & out, think they've just said about £250 made to measure. They look really nice.

GreatGooglyMoogly · 19/03/2014 12:30

Thanks Blush. My friend doesn't usually like dresses but has fallen in love with this one for her wedding so I couldn't let her be disappointed if there was anything I could do about it. She knows that I tried (and failed) to buy one online for her but I don't want to get her hopes up until I am holding it in my hands this time!

Has she tried the size 16? Sizes vary so much between shops, it may fit?

isisisis · 19/03/2014 15:59

greatgoogly you are lovely. Really Hope she gets it. I feel very involved in this wedding, please let us know how you get on.

GreatGooglyMoogly · 19/03/2014 16:17

Well, there has been a lot of activity and amusement going on today!

I had a message from my friend's sister in Canada telling me that she had (been up at 3am her time) ordered the dress from a Coast shop and hoped it was okay that she was having it sent to me. So I told her that I had ordered one too and she said at least now we have a back up :). Then someone from this thread who shall remain nameless (you know who you are Thanks) let me know that she had put one on hold for me in another shop and that there were two more shops that had it as well just in case! So we could have 5 dresses if we wanted but we should have 2 soon :). The bride now knows all of this and is very happy Grin.

The dress is quite a simple one to copy: It is a basic strapless dress with a lace & chiffon overlay which is caught up at the bottom to create the "bubble effect" at the hem. Perhaps your friend could take it to a seamstress to have it made?

Ujjayi · 19/03/2014 16:24

Oops. Should have read the remainder of the thread past page 1 Blush

NotAQueef · 19/03/2014 19:14

Oh lovely update

ShellyF · 19/03/2014 19:17

Smile great result

GreatGooglyMoogly · 20/03/2014 22:08

Just read the thread. Outcome sounds great!

Bursting to know, does your friend like the dress???

GreatGooglyMoogly · 25/03/2014 17:30

The second dress has arrived! I have compared them and the first looks like it's made better so I shall hopefully get to both a Coast shop and the post office this week so that one can be returned and the other sent to my friend Grin!
