Hi I'm off to the hairdressers tomorrow and have decided to go for short instead of my layered bob style but I don't know what to call what I want, I'm thinking of full and longer on the top of my head with a fringe and shorter and perhaps layered at the sides - like a short styled basin cut and perhaps layered at the sides. I have thick, fine wavy hair
Any ideas?

Looks like a variation on the old fashioned "page boy" cut, popular in 1979. It suits her, though! Think you need really thick, swishy hair to carry it off and not look like Wendy Craig Grin. She was the archetypical "mum" in the '70's.

Thanks - I realise I've not described what I want very well :) I want a choppy sort of tousled look - I suppose it's a updated version of the pageboy??? I'll take some pics with me and keep my fingers xxx'd

Well, I had it done and it's not short! The hairdresser said he liked my shaggy style (I thought it was my usual messy scruff look) so he cut it to accentuate the shaggy look, and scrunched it to make it curlier. So I now have a shortish shaggy bob and I like it!!
