Foundation for dry skin? Avoiding the cake?

I haven't a clue, I have never been able to do it. Cakey cakey cakey.

Please help. Any tips or foundation recommendations welcome!

Revlon colour stay is the only liquid I've ever found that doesn't cake if applied with the real techniques dome brush.

Bare minerals is ok if you like a powder.
