expensive but horrid

I wouldn't buy these from Sports Direct for £5, let alone for £££! Coming to a sale section, near you, this August! Grin

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 12/03/2014 20:46

They have to be good in water dappy for all the incontinent grannies..

furlinedsheepskinjacket · 12/03/2014 20:50

ooooooooo banished

;)

PrimalLass · 12/03/2014 20:54

I like them Blush

dexter73 · 12/03/2014 21:03

Why would you need to wear sandals in water Confused?!!

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 12/03/2014 21:14

dexter be sensible now!!! It's for those unexpected yet incredibly common moments when you're taking a nice stroll across the park on a gorgeous sunny day and all of a sudden BAM the ground you are standing in spontaneously forms a puddle.

dexter73 · 12/03/2014 21:16

Thanks TripTrap - I will ensure that I am wearing suitable shoes in case of spontaneous puddles from now on Wink!!

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 12/03/2014 21:40

impty those are truly horrid! Grin

MadBusLady · 12/03/2014 22:16

Maybe part of what they're selling is the idea that you will spend the whole of every summer in Cornwall/Cape Cod hence the paramount need for waterproof sandals.

The only large body of water I regularly have any dealings with is the Thames. Bet they can't go in that.

cromwell44 · 12/03/2014 22:20

Emperor's new clothes. If they came from Next they'd be universally hated.

Dappydongle · 13/03/2014 03:44

I wear them in the water so the pebbles don't hurt my feet and so the weaver fish don't bite me.

Wuxiapian · 13/03/2014 03:59

Oooh.

I likey...

Walnut8 · 13/03/2014 04:39

They have been very popular all summer where I am - usually with mums who match them with their toddlers' salties ...Shock

CockBollocks · 13/03/2014 06:59

Matching with your toddler?

I came on this section to start a thread!

Those sandals are grim! The sort of think worn with ankle socks by an RE teacher circa 1975.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 13/03/2014 07:11

I like them. I'm 6ft so don't want heels and I need to wear shoes with a strap so these are perfect for me.

They are very cheap though, I bet Alexa Chung wears a more expensive version

Walnut8 · 13/03/2014 07:18

they are NOT cheap where I am (i know because I looked into them for my 3 yr old!)

BringMeTea · 13/03/2014 07:18

Also tall and vaguely slender of ankle. I love them! As Alexa was living in the States I suspect hers were even cheaper. Ignore the haterz. Smile

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 13/03/2014 07:28

Do you lot find you form a foot rainbow down the post office on pension day? Grin

Ledkr · 13/03/2014 07:37

Yes I couldn't believe it when I saw them.
The mumsnetter who said she bought some for her dd made me imagine my dd if I handed her a pair of those. Aren't they just the same Jesus creeper that my mum used to force on me in the summer!

Wuxiapian · 13/03/2014 07:41

I don't think I'll be able to resist a purchase for myself.

Perhaps my DS would like some, too!

Nocomet · 13/03/2014 07:51

Yes they probably are about as stylish as the Jesus creepers of old and who fucking cares.

I've spent countless summers in really comfortable Clarks sunseekers (Velcro straps and all).

It's time women said a huge FUCK OFF to the insane notion that we have to totter about on heels, wear pumps that rub our heels and flip flops that give us blisters on our toes.

It's time for women to rise up and say we don't say "men would never tolerate shoes that hurt, why the hell do we".

Saltwater sandals are very old fashioned, but if they become popular, perhaps Clarks etc, will finally see there is a huge market for something equally comfortable, but a bit more modern.

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 13/03/2014 08:02

A.I don't totter on heels,I can even run in them.

B.I never wear pumps but I never wear anything that rubs heels.

C.I don't get blisters from flip flops.

D.This constant notion that pretty shoes are useless, painful and women who wear them are idiots is annoying.

You can be comfortable and practical without looking like your nan :p
