Necklace for a 40th birthday present

It's my sister-in-law's birthday coming up and I was hoping to get her a nice necklace/pendant. Trouble is, the small town I live in has a crap selection so it's going to have to be online. I was hoping to buy something silver maybe with a nice bird pendant... My sil is quite conventional and I am less so and would like to get her something a little bit unusual but not too wacky as she wouldn't wear it. Budget is £40. Any ideas where to look?

I saw some Alex Monroe inspired silver plated stuff in Dorothy Perkins recently. Might be worth a look? They may have had gold too.

Great suggestions - love the hummingbird one. I've just remembered that her dad is getting an old jet necklace of her mum's reset for her - is it wrong to buy her a necklace too? Don't want to steal his thunder... Maybe a bracelet. Gah!

A jet necklace sounds more like something you'd keep for special occasions, whereas the one you get could be more of an everyday one?
