Transition shoes

OK - I know this has been done to death, but I still haven't found the holy grail of shoes to wear when the weather gets warmer and I have to come out of my boots. I usually manage with Birkenstocks in summer (dh hates them) but it isn't warm enough for them yet, but it'll soon be too warm for boots. I've tried Converse and Superga and they just don't look right. I have size 41/42 feet, so Converse just make them look like boats, while Superga are a bit wide for me and just look all wrong. I don't like Vans and the like - it's the sort of thing ds wants to wear, and he's 12. I'm mid-40's so don't want to look as though I'm trying too hard.

I do have ballet flats for when I want to look a bit more pulled together, but I'm just after something for wearing at home with jeans. I guess I'm after something that's not TOO casual, but something that's comfortable as well. Does it exist? Any suggestions gratefully received.

Topshop and new look do soft ballet flats, I prefer topshop but they are not generous on sizing. New look do some lovely more formal ballet shoes too and normally have a huge range, they also have wide fit which for some reason means I need to size down. My feet must be fat and boat like!

topshop soft ballet ignore the patent ones (if you want soft)

I have these www.clarks.co.uk/p/20357711. I'm a size 8, very comfy!

Steptronic make THE comfiest shoes in the cosmiverse. True fact. They have a sheepskin lining (underneath insole) so you feel as if you are walking on air.

They are a bit too kerching full price (IMO) but I got a pair of tan punched leather ballet flats from Debenhams last spring for £19. Best money I've ever spent.

I have the Clarks Hamble Oak brogues.

I have just bought two pairs of these, which I love (I got the black and the leopard). I have had lots of compliments on them!

They are huge, though. I am usually a 7 and got size 6.

I dislike court shoes and ballet flats are too flat for me, so I like wearing Fly London shoes; they have a nice bit of a wedge, but are comfy. Lots of summery styles about now. El Naturalista is a nice funky range too and Art to some gorgeous trainers. I can't wear the latter because I am inbetween their sizes though.

I wear slip on flats: pointed flats or slippers (Sam Edelman Adenas or leopard print ones). I had ballets, but I'm moving away from them. Banana Republic and M&S both have flats w padding and support.

These are perfect-I just want them in tan!

Has anyone seen anything similar in tan??

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. Need to go and try a few out (easier said than done with my big feet, I will start to investigate).
