(Yet another) Bra Intervention Thread!

I was fitted at Bravissimo a few months ago as a 38F. I've lost some weight since and have just measured myself using the method suggested here as a 36FF, which kind of makes sense. But I really want to try Ewa Michalak and using the guide on their website I'm a 40C. Shock Confused
Can anyone shed some light on what I should be looking for?!

All the bras in Debenhams only went to DD Sad except the maternity bras which went to G. Trying a 32G in a playtex just to get an idea.

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/03/2014 15:15

That's very odd, most debenhams have loads of dd+ - are you sure there isn't a separate DD+ section (they're in a different area in mine, up a set of steps)

NuggetofPurestGreen · 09/03/2014 15:21

Looked all over. The playtex were the only other ones than the maternity/nursing bras I could find with Gs. And no GGs. However the cup size on the G seems too big so might try an F or FF.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 09/03/2014 15:24

Oh I found them! They were hidden elsewhere. Thanks!

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/03/2014 16:49

I knew they'd be there somewhere!

NuggetofPurestGreen · 09/03/2014 17:02

Thank god for mumsnet eh? Smile

30G was the clear winner anyway in a few different styles. Have 3 new bras now can't wait to give them a go in real life.

I have a question about back fat though. I know you're not supposed to have any but I am very squidgy (slim enough but small framed so have a bit of chub going on) - surely you can't eliminate back fat completely because anything tight against your skin is going to squeeze a bit?

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/03/2014 17:05

Yeah, I'm kind of similar and I do always have a little bit. The thing is though, I have it in a bigger band size too, it's better in the smaller one as it least then I can scoop most but not all of it in whereas if I go up a back size it all just falls out!

NuggetofPurestGreen · 09/03/2014 17:12

Yeah that's it exactly I still had in in the next sizes and in the 36 I'm currently wearing. Phew was worried is done it wrong Wink

AlpacaYourThings · 09/03/2014 17:56

Does anyone have the link for measuring bra size? I haven't done mine in at least a year.

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/03/2014 18:05

fitting link

NachoAddict · 09/03/2014 18:08

I was wearing a 34d before I was intervened into a 30g. Having lost weight I think I now need a 28f/ff. I always wore cheapo moulded plunges and I miss the cleavage I used to have.

I now have two sort've cleavagey bras, the tempt me by curvy kate, I think and one by lepel.

Can anyone recommend anything hat will give me a pushed up, round look, finding it down to get anything padded in my size.

I have a few fauve balcony bras that fit really well but I don't get a cleavage effect.

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/03/2014 18:15

Cleavage bras are very trial and error and breast shape dependent so I would suggest trying pretty much all of the following:

Tempt me - there are other versions of it now like flaunt and wild if that shape works
Bravissimo Satine
Freya Deco (and it's sisters hattie, ashley...if it's a moulded freya, it's deco in disguise!)
Curvy Kate smoothie
Panache porcelain plunge
Cleo Neve
Curvy kate desire

NachoAddict · 09/03/2014 18:19

Thanks, I wil get on brastop, I found my curvy kate to be big on the back so will defo have to go for the 28, I don't suppose they do 26?

I miss being able to walk into any shop and buy a cheap bra! I tried my old bra on and cant believe how badly they fit and I never even realised.

AlpacaYourThings · 09/03/2014 18:22

Thank you, Statistically

AlpacaYourThings · 09/03/2014 18:26

34inch back
40 inch bust

That's 34E, right?

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/03/2014 18:40

yup

NuggetofPurestGreen · 09/03/2014 20:12

Aaarrrgh was delighted with the fit of the 30G in the changing room but now wearing one round the house and have developed 4 boob! Is the cup size too small do you think? I'm not sure I actually tried on a 30GG cos I don't think they had any but maybe that's what I need.
Help me bra experts you're my only hope!

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/03/2014 20:18

Sounds like it. I always give things a longer try at home as sometimes once you move around you notice little niggles. Try 1 up

NuggetofPurestGreen · 09/03/2014 20:29

Thanks Statistically I don't think they had any 30GGs though, but I'll look again during the week.

I'm also wondering if it's the style? My boobs are very soft they have no shape to them, and lie very flat and long against my body when standing up straight. Do you think I need a fuller cup to contain them?

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/03/2014 20:41

Hmm, are the bras quite plunging? It could be that it's too small, or it could be that you are just falling out and maybe need something with a higher gore to stop you falling in to the middle

NuggetofPurestGreen · 09/03/2014 21:17

They were Debenhams gorgeous range and were balcony style so not too plungey but still a lot of 'overflow'

NuggetofPurestGreen · 09/03/2014 21:20

This is one of them but don't know if you can see properly.

(Yet another) Bra Intervention Thread!
SorrelForbes · 09/03/2014 21:28

That looks quite plungey to me so that, combined with your softness might be why you're overflowing. I'd suggest trying something that's cut more straight across the top of the cup.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 09/03/2014 21:46

Thanks Sorrel. I'll return these and have a look at the other styles and see how it goes. I suppose not going to solve the issues overnight.

alemci · 10/03/2014 16:22

I put my Rebecca bra on today. I still get cleavage but I think it is better than some of my other bras.

They all seem to push my boobs together and up.

Perhaps I worry too much!

When I was in my 20s I didn't have any and wanted it but now I have it and don't want it
