Leather jackets

This could be a mid life crisis...
I recently started thinking about buying myself a leather jacket. But wonder if I'm too old - 45years. Never had one, and also then worried if people take against them.
Any advice? Cut, colour etc. I'm very pale, brownish hair. Including don't do it, you are too old!

I think they are timeless - work on all ages. Maybe go for dark grey if black seems a bit much, for you?

I don't think even the hardcore mutton police object to leather jackets. Do they? They're a classic although styles and shapes can still date so I would spend time looking and trying on first. As always, there are lots of ideas on Pinterest. Agree that you don't have to get black - personally I think dark brown, as well as grey, can be more flattering.

What style? I have a Betty Barclay blazer in bronze leather which I bought 15 yars ago, still looks great and goes with everything.

Thanks.
I'm not sure what style. Something like you describe that's classic and goes with lots of outfits would be good. Not keen on lots of zips.
Will look up Betty Barclay.

They also come in a huge price range. Is it worth stretching myself? Or try and stay sensible. I saw a brown one in TK Maxx that I almost really liked, which was about £80. But John Lewis is more like £300-400. So almost feel paralysed by indecision!

Silly problem, I know.

Honestly, you can wear a leather jacket at any age.

TulipOHare · 07/03/2014 16:52

I love mine, it is darkest brown, super soft and thick. I got it for twenty quid on Ebay but think it would have been quite expensive new, it doesn't have a brand but the size label looks qualityish Grin and it just feels so niiiiice . It is not a biker or a blazer, don't know how I would describe it really. Never seen one like it.

I am 35 now but hope to wear it for decades to come. Leather is for all ages.

Tkmaxx is great for stuff like that. Try it on. Look in a mirror. Dies it make you smile?

I love my Sainsbury's one!

No way are you too old. I love my leather jacket. I'm 43.

I got Belstaff for my 40th present. I love it beyond measure and wear it as much as possible. Not everyone's choice I know but it looks gorgeous and ver slimming if I say so myself.
