I bought a miraclesuit swimming costume and it looks awful!

I read loads of great reviews for them, saved up and bought one expecting to look like Kelly Brooke 10lbs lighter and have some sort of shape rather than like a blob when I go on holiday in May, but it's a disaster! Boobs look terrible (I'm a 32F according to bravissimo but I'm not convinced), stomach looks, well it looks like I've had 4 children, which I have, so that's not shocking but I thought it would work it's magic, I'm really disappointed. I saved up for it and was looking forward to seeing curves.

I'm 5,5 and a size 16 since having my youngest 12 months ago, so I should expect the inevitable really.

I need an underwired swimsuit with lots of ruching I think, any recommendations?

Sorry I don't like your swimsuit. It dosn't look like it would be v flattering.
Figleaves has a good range and here.

Deathwatchbeetle · 07/03/2014 16:12

Ugh no way would that be flattering. I think if your boobs are big (as mine are-42DD) you need proper straps. That makes them looks like they are in sacks and the tummy area would highlight even the smallest paunch. I had a miracle suit type bodysuit and that was fugly.

Lurking - I do like those figleaves ones very much.

InspirationFailed · 07/03/2014 18:52

Thank you for the link, I got it totally wrong choosing that swimsuit then! I like some of the ones at fig leaves, I wouldn't normally be so anxious about a swimsuit but I am going on holiday with my ex and his family ( they want to take the dc but as the youngest is still breastfed it means I have to go too)

This photo is of the look I was trying to achieve! Didn't quite go to plan...

How about this

Rocket82 · 07/03/2014 19:57

I bought this recently in navy, pretty happy with it!

I think the rushing is flattering on the belly. Without it you can see my post baby stretched belly button!

RalphRecklessCardew · 07/03/2014 20:00

Esther Williams. Really. You can thank me layer.

RalphRecklessCardew · 07/03/2014 20:00

Or even later.

BuntyCollocks · 07/03/2014 20:05

Look at for Luna. They have amazing swimsuits. Esther Williams ones as mentioned up thread.

Flangeofmingetown · 07/03/2014 21:11

Peacocks has some really great ones this year from skirted ones to halter neck 1950's retro style in bright red (with ruching).

I bought this recently I love it but it doesn't have wired cups.

stella69x · 07/03/2014 23:35

Sorry on phone so not a clicky link

RonaldMcDonald · 08/03/2014 00:29

I think bikinis are always better

InspirationFailed · 08/03/2014 06:12

Thank you for the links, some lovely choices. I like the 50s style longer legs, I have one similar already but the last time I wore that to take my ds swimming some older kids laughed at me and I haven't worn it since Blush

I couldn't wear a bikini Shock my stomach is huge, and covered in 4 childrens worth of stretch marks, I have some muscle separation too so it's particularly bad I keep meaning to go on a diet but can't stop eating mini eggs The thought of wearing one in front of ex and his family... I can just hear the comments.

This is my 50s style one, it's a bad photo as I had forgotten to take the plastic off the camera. But it shows what shape I'm trying to hide.

LaTrucha · 08/03/2014 07:39

If I were you I wouldn't do the longer leg thing. I don't see it suiting your shape in the photo. I think you are doing yourself a disservice. You have a great figure with a fab decolletage.

I personally find halternecks suit me far less than I thought they would. I think it's the triangle effect on larger boobs. For me it makes them look a bit like oranges in a bag. I would try one more like the M&S one but I also think that you will need one with a proper cup size rather than a dress size.

This all comes, however, from me not yet having found a swimsuit for myself that I like!

LaTrucha · 08/03/2014 07:41

I'm thinking about this and I am the same bra size as you.

whereisshe · 08/03/2014 07:50

You shouldn't still have a muscle separation after a year, have you asked your GP for a physio referral? It honestly makes me so cross how the NHS treat it as something to be put up with not cured, when it's easy to fix and it has such an impact on women's self esteem. . These are the type of exercises you can do.

Not much help with your swimsuit quest! I'm still wearing my maternity picchu tankini with girl board shorts, so watching with interest. I think the 50s style one is lovely, ignore the twattish older kids laughter!

lurkingaround · 08/03/2014 08:20

Is that you in the picture? I wouldn't go for the longer leg either if I were you but gosh I don't think you should be fretting about your shape/figure! I think you look great. Lovely hourglass, great legs, great boobs.
Would you wear something like this, or this. But I think loads of swimsuits will look great on you. I really don't think you should worry.

BuzzardBird · 08/03/2014 08:31

I love the peacocks bikini. Wow, op,you have a lovely figure! Poor you having to holiday with the x though ...hope he is paying? I saw a lovely dress type swimsuit on holiday recently and it looked gorgeous, I think she bought it from Debenhams.

PrimalLass · 08/03/2014 08:32

I bought this in blue in a panic at Center Parcs. The pattern is not the best (bit old ladydish) but it is very flattering as the top has a control layer and the bottoms come right up.

Ledkr · 08/03/2014 08:32

Those longer legged ones just loo granny and cut off you thgh, your figure looks nice and shapely. I am a size 16 pear shape and I have had five dc so tummy is saggy.we go swimming to an outdoor pool all summer so I make sure I'm fake tanned,do some cycling around now to tone up legs, few tummy exercise then I wear a flattering Cossie and waterproof mascara. Try to look confident.
I won't recommend costumes as my boobs are only small but Frost French do nice ones that flatter the tummy and are very trendy.

42notTrendy · 08/03/2014 08:41

I have had 2 tummy control ones from M&S in the last couple of years. There is ruching a'plenty which hides my tummy well and the colours and patterns are great, often on offer too.

RonaldMcDonald · 08/03/2014 08:45

Something like this with this might work

BTW I think you look great and have fab norks

InspirationFailed · 08/03/2014 08:48

Thanks everyone, I've ordered a selection from my selling stuff on eBay fund and hopefully one will look ok. It's the side view that's the worst, I have a flab roll then a dip, then a big over hang (thank you for the muscle exercises) so it looks awful. I'm going to go into town and try some of the styles recommended on.

Ex is paying for the holiday, no way am I contributing. I'm hoping the whole lot of them get searched very thoroughly at customs.

Or....what about one of these guys?
The idea of good bust support and the bit underneath being looser might work for you?
