...in stone. I've got a couple of outfit ideas I would like to wear them with but how do you wear yours or any other brogues for that matter. I'm thinking casual rather than smart.

I have the original dark olive from two yrs ago and black from last autumn. I wear them for work with....well, everything!

frankietwospots · 05/03/2014 22:03

oooo, I've got my eye on them too! I'm a recent converter to brogues, having bought the sparkly Clarks Hotel Disco ones a few weeks ago. So far I have worn them with this skirt: www.monki.com/Shop/Skirts#dialog-1 with navy tights and a navy crew neck jumper. I've also worn them with grey woolly tights and a slightly prim navy dress. The reason I bought them is that I was fed up of feeling a bit tarty when I wore short dresses/skirts with heeled ankle boots and the brogues do the job beautifully.

I have the Clarks Hamble Oak in Tan and Wine and wear them with skirts, dresses and trousers. Love them

Nocomet · 06/03/2014 01:33

But, am I allowed socks with brogues and jeans?

Nocomet · 06/03/2014 01:38

I simply don't get how no socks in anything except real leather lined sandals works.

(And I notice even my very fasion conscious teen puts trainer liners in everything).

butterfliesinmytummy · 06/03/2014 02:09

I've got the m&s brown leather brogues from the boys section, they're pretty similar and super comfy. I wear them with trainer socks that can't be seen. Currently sitting here in said brogues, ripped and rolled up jeans and a grey embellished sweatshirt. Two people asked me today where I got my shoes, love them!

M&S boys leather brogues

DailyBread · 06/03/2014 06:18

Do they still do them? I had a couple of pairs - sooooo comfortable. I wore them to death. Might have to get them again although DH was not a fan. He said I looked like one of the Mr Men in them. Charmer.

Those Marks ones are great value. I went for the stone as I fancied a really pale colour but not as light as white. I've never worn anything like them before so I keep getting them out, looking at them and putting them back. I was thinking no visible sock and turned up jeans so I'm going in search of trainer liners today.

I fancy those too, so am jumping on for ideas. I was going to wear them with black slim leg trousers and a nude silk shirt, but as i didn't even think about the sock issue, I probably don't have a clue.

muser31 · 06/03/2014 09:01

they are lovely. i got the coolest fruit clarkes brogues really happy with them as they are heeled and a little more dressy than my last brogues

Stokey · 06/03/2014 10:17

I just bought these ones. Am wearing them with a dress today and last time with a mini A-line skirt.

Haven't worn with trousers yet as it is just too cold to go sockless. I think wearing them with skirts, dresses counters the manly thing.

Clarks have also got some very pretty summer ones with holes in but perhaps a bit impractical, at least in rainy old UK

cloudskitchen · 06/03/2014 12:08

I wonder if I'm a bit old to wear them with skirts (43 and hinting a little bit for ages of those wearing with skirts Grin ) It is a look I really like.

cloudskitchen I'm 39 so pretty close to you.

I wear a lot of skirts & dresses 9mainly for work) so just feels natural to wear them together.

Hopasholic · 06/03/2014 12:23

The ones with 'holes' in are really lovely aren't they? I am tempted but like you say, if we get another wet summer, I'll be stuck then for work shoes. I've had my eye on them for ages but am a little unsure what to wear with them too.

frankietwospots · 06/03/2014 12:32

cloudskitchen - I'm 42 and am wearing my sparkly Hotel Disco brogues in the office today with a multi-coloured mini dress and thick grey tights. The brogues make me feel more 'grounded' and counter the mini dress nicely. I have got long skinny legs though which helps! I've had loads of compliments when I wear them with short skirts and dresses. Even DH had to admit that he thinks they look OK!

I'm deffo getting the mushroom ones with holes in for summer. As soon as there's a 20% code, they are mine!

cloudskitchen · 06/03/2014 13:58

Thank you all. I was also 42 until yesterday! Grin I feel greatly reasurred about wearing them with skirts and dresses now.

Happy Birthday for yesterday cloudskitchen!

IamInvisible · 06/03/2014 21:15

Cloudskitchen I was 43 last Wednesday, I have 2 pairs of Dune brogues and a pair of Clarks Hamble brogues in nude. I wear the Dune ones with opaque tights and a skirt, usually above the knee because I am short and have skinny legs so I look dumpy otherwise.

I wear them with 7/8 trousers with a nude knee high pop sock (sexy Wink) or a fancy one. I, also, wear them with jeans, or longer trousers and a trainer sock.
