Does anyone think that KK looks good in this outfit?www.telegraph.co.uk/news/features/10678020/Keira-Knightleys-waist-sensation-lets-not-be-waspish.html
I realise a slight optical illusion is at play with the silhouette but it just makes me feel squirmy and think of her organs and bones. I also don't like the idea that impressionable girls might think that having a nothing waist is desirable.

I think KK is a stunning woman! The outfit is a little out there haha but she can pull it off. And like many of you said - its high fashion! Obviously we won't be seeing an exact version in the high street stores...

Yes she has a tiny frame but so do a lot of women, I don't necessarily think she promotes unhealthy or unrealistic aesthetics. We come in all shapes and sizes. We should be celebrating our diversity!

Hungermonkey · 06/03/2014 15:47

She's probbaly very toned and strong. Very slim active women often stay like that because they exercise hard to do so .

SundaySimmons · 06/03/2014 16:01

Having read the eat a pie comment, I think some people don't realise that the dress is an optical illusion and the black material is a panel which white material at the sides.

I love the dress, it's fabulous.

Hungermonkey · 06/03/2014 16:07

The eat a pie comment is breathtakingly rude and ignorant.

TheWomanWithTheMysteriousLump · 06/03/2014 16:10

It's not you know Sunday - although obviously the oversized white top and bottom make the middle look smaller by comparison. Neither is it significantly photoshopped unless every single pap shot has been doctored in the same way.

here

TheWomanWithTheMysteriousLump · 06/03/2014 16:12

This photo shows more clearly that it's some form of super strength control fabric. I totally want one. I'm sure that the good people of ASOS/Zara are drafting stuff up as we speak.

squoosh · 06/03/2014 16:17

Rihanna wore something similar although lilac is my least favourite colour ever.

I think she is just naturally slim, I dont think this is as a result of excercise as Hungermonkey says - I was this shape into my early 30s, I never used to excercise and ate like a horse. I used to pick up size 6s and say "no I dont need to try it on, I know it will fit" (sigh)

Lets see what shape she is getting into her 40s when it become a maintenance issue rather than natural

Shes not the best actress but I always quite liked how defiantly flat chested she was, although I havent seen her much recently so she may have matured into a chest been brow beaten into implants

BlueSkySunnyDay · 06/03/2014 16:28

Not keen on the outfit, it certainly would be a mistake for "ordinary" people in the same way the puff ball skirt was, but she can carry off couture. Kind of like those "clever" hair magazines which have awful arty syles in, you just look at them and think wtf, You'd look a right twat if you went down the pub with it!

TheWomanWithTheMysteriousLump · 06/03/2014 16:33

She's definitely not been persuaded into implants. She was on Graham Norton this year looking exactly her usual shape and laughing about how they'd had to fake a cleavage on her for some costume drama using makeup shading.

BlueSkySunnyDay · 06/03/2014 17:03

Woman - im glad about that she must have been under pressure over the years so it does show a strength of character.

I'm pretty sure if I was now the shape I was naturally when younger people would assume I was anorexic, that is what people do with her.

Some people are just naturally very thin, my diet and lifestyle were not brilliant though so very thin does not naturally = "really fit & healthy", it also does not = a "problem" Unfortunately my body seem to store all the calories and throw them back at me in my mid 30s - being "thin" is now a distant memory!! Personally, having tried most shapes, my favourite was somewhere in the curvy middle.

Hairmare · 06/03/2014 18:07

All this thread is doing is allowing posters to project their own insecurities about their body shape on to that picture by saying 'she needs to eat a pie' 'too skinny' etc, where as if it was someone who weighted more and they were told that they had to eat less all hell would break lose. There is nothing wrong with being slim, it doesn't mean that you are anorexic and it doesn't mean that you are fit and have a 6 pack!! All you are doing is feeding into the crap the media force on us to think about certain body shapes in certain ways! If you have an issue with your body or size then its up to you to fix it, no amount of Keria Knightly bashing is going to fix it!

Hairmare · 06/03/2014 18:09

And the dress is nice, all she is doing is accentuating one of her best features. If someone was to do that by wearing a push up bra etc they wouldn't be scrutinised, so whats the different doing it with her waist.

Elsiequadrille · 06/03/2014 18:13

I think Keira is lovely actually, but that outfit is not flattering.

Elsiequadrille · 06/03/2014 18:15

But would add that I don't think the outfit would flatter many people.

Agree that the comments about being skinny and pies are a bit off.

Fairyliz · 06/03/2014 20:35

This threadhas mademe feel really old; I can remember when nearly all young women were this size.

KatoPotato · 06/03/2014 21:06

Still looks like a robosapien

NinetyNinePercentTroll · 06/03/2014 21:13

The dress isn't my taste but I can't get worked up about it. The skirt and top are very clearly such a 'baggy' fit as to accentuate and enhance the teeniness of the skintight waist area. Yes, she is very slim, but that dress is designed to make her look even more so.

cerealqueen · 06/03/2014 23:01

Surely she is just emphasising her best feature, like we all try to do?

I like it, a bit chess piece like but its fun!

I saw her on Jonathan Ross or was it Graham Norton? She was describing how her chest was painted on for the Pirates of the Carribean films, totally self depracating, having a laugh about it.
