I need boring shoes

Just some everyday casual shoes, to wear with jeans/skinny cords for pottering about in.

I'm not bothered about being fashionable. Feet a little on the wide side but standard size five. Been wearing Superga pumps but they are dying and TBH I didn't love them anyway.

Suggestions would be great - budget up to around £60ish? but flexible.

leopard vans
lacoste hi-tops
print gola

Brogues are in at the mo. Clarks hamble brogues are nice and about the right price.

CuttedUpPear · 03/03/2014 11:18

Hotter are brilliant

CuttedUpPear · 03/03/2014 11:19

What's boring about your choice FauxFox?

Snazzy!

poopooheadwillyfatface · 03/03/2014 12:28

See, I don't like any of those.
I don't know what I do want, I just know what I don't like.

I usually like Unstructured range by Clarks (but not current stuff)
And been tempted by Vans and Camper before. I used to wear Doc Martens all the time until I felt I looked like I was pretending to be a student.

I quite like the Mary Jane type shoes but then I worry about socks on display - socks or no socks or what else...

what about ankle boots instead? no sock drama Grin

FauxFox · 03/03/2014 12:51

those camper ones on the last link are awful! please don't buy those! the dunlop ones are the nicest of your links imo.

bunnymother · 03/03/2014 12:54

I would aim for more Acne Pistol inspired ankle boots, to be honest.

anklebitersmum · 03/03/2014 12:55

These are my absolute favourite shoes ever. Outrageously comfy and solidly built.

Based on the original Clarks Polyveldt of the 80's (which I wore until they died in the mid 90's) I am now on my second pair of these..

orangestripe · 03/03/2014 12:58

I like the Camper ones in your last link. And the El Natura Lista ones in the first link. I know what you mean about the sock issue, but perhaps with the better weather (depending where you are) that won't be such an issue and it might actually be a nod to spring to wear jeans/cords with shoes that have a bit of flesh showing.

FauxFox · 03/03/2014 12:59

If they made me feel like I was walking on clouds with my feet encased in cobweb silk spun into cotton wool by fairies I still couldn't wear those ankle it would make me cry. I think i'm on the wrong thread.

poopooheadwillyfatface · 03/03/2014 13:14

Ankle - hell no Grin

I don't like ankle boots either. I'm short, they look shit on me.

See - one love and one hate for the Campers - how I am supposed to pick anything.

See I'd rather wear beige sandals with grey socks than wear those Naturalista's poopooheadwillyfatface

FauxFox that's just how they make my feet feel. Still, each to their own but not mine obviously Grin

FauxFox · 03/03/2014 13:49

clogs?

FauxFox · 03/03/2014 13:50

poopoo those on the last link are like leather cornish pasties Confused

anklebitersmum · 03/03/2014 13:57

My eyes, my eyes! Mmmmm greeeeen

poopooheadwillyfatface · 03/03/2014 14:01

not quite what I'm looking for FauxGrin
I might get the Dunlop ones anyway as they are cheap then look for something else too.
I also need some socks plain that are a little less 'oooh aren't I wacky'. so boring sock recommendations also welcomeSmile

The biters have the dunlop ones in canvas.

I'd avoid vans/airwalks etc as they're not very comfy long term (designed to feel the board so you feel every pebble too).

poopooheadwillyfatface · 03/03/2014 15:23

duh ankle that makes sense, my supergas are not comfy on bumpy ground eitherBlush
