Blackduck · 09/03/2014 08:47

It would need to be veeeery stretchy :)

beachyhead · 09/03/2014 08:49

Blackduck, hope you're not asking me to try it on! It's a tube skirt and stretchy. Also should mention, seems to be on sale in the shop for £12, but I know some of you got it for £7.......

I'll stick to the disco jacket, assuming I can wrestle it off dd1 (or dig it out of her room).

bigTillyMint · 09/03/2014 08:50

Well, I reckon if it's like the silvery one, I would be fine in a 10 and you are much smaller than me!

wilbur · 09/03/2014 10:04

BTM - these ferns are lovely - I have some coming soon for a woodlandy bit of garden I am hoping to plant. By the way, if anyone is interested in getting some wild garlic for their garden, this variety, I have masses and masses as it has naturalised pretty much all over my garden. You can make very delicious pesto out of it and it flowers around April (plants are up no but now flowers yet). It does honk though, so end of garden probably best.

Herbs - so sorry the Drs are not being helpful that's Sad for your FIL and DP.

bigTillyMint · 09/03/2014 10:28

OMG Wilbur! We have those dratted wild garlics all over the place (including in the front gardenShock) How do you make delicious pesto out of them? Do you pull the whole thing up?

wilbur · 09/03/2014 10:40

You can eat the whole thing, raw or cooked, but we just use the leaves for pesto, you can put basil in as well or just the garlic which makes a beautiful pale green sauce. They are also lovely in risotto instead of leeks, and also in things like potato salad instead of chives. If they are taking over your garden, dig the whole thing up, you'll still have plenty next year.

wilbur · 09/03/2014 10:42

Some more wild garlic recipes here (quite fancy the lamb)

Blackduck · 09/03/2014 11:21

Ha ha Beachy.... No just wondered if anyone had a view on sizing!

I am a rubbish gardener, but now have a garden the size of a postage stamp so less of an issue, but just de-leafed the drain 'boak'

motherinferior · 09/03/2014 11:25

I'm tempted by a 10...

I have a hangover. I knew the third beer last night was a mistake but was having lovely time in the pub with three friends - our daughters were all friends from reception - having v Crepey conversation about menopause, work, life in general...there was a 70s disco party going on too, with fab music and some spectacular outfits. So on balance a hangover well earned.

Stropperella · 09/03/2014 13:49

Am having a very busy weekend trying to catch up with outdoor jobs. There is also paid work to be done and I'm working all day in school tomorrow too. Am a bit short of sleep as was out at a friend's last night. Her dh cooked yummy stuff for 4 of us and served it all. And did the washing up as he went along. I'm slowly coming to the realisation that alcohol and I no longer get along terribly well. I only have to have a couple of drinks to wake up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat and with absolutely vile indigestion. I felt as though my insides had turned into an acid bath last night. Yuk. Am now back on the wagon. Which makes me feel virtuous, but rather old. (I have to say that wild garlic has always given me dreadful indigestion. We have some around the place in our garden, but the chickens are welcome to it)

The dcs, dog and I walked to the market this morning and I got quite a few plants for very little money. I now have to take a carload of logs and ivy to the dump. Which will probably mean sitting in a long queue outside the dump for some while, as everyone else will doubtless also be getting rid of garden rubbish this afternoon. Dd has announced she has masses of work and is busy not doing it and is getting crosser and crosser. I am so glad that I have to be out of the house early tomorrow morning...

Blackduck · 09/03/2014 14:03

Stropps that's partly why I got on the wagon - night sweats again, and feeling a bit ropey generally. Felt really good today when I got up as I had nothing last night (polishes halo).

I have hoovered, made soup and helped ds with his homework - no more tellings off from the teacher here :)

Managed to nip to the garden centre whilst DSs team were warming up and all Cremos advice went out of my head Blush but I got some plants for the sunny parts of the gardenSmile Honeysuckle and a climbing rose and some flowery rosemary and lavender and some other stuff! And they won their match and DS was man of match - job done for a whileWink Grin

cremolafoam · 09/03/2014 17:04

sounds like a good haul at the garden centre BTM.
I do have a passion for ransomes ( wild garlic) it makes loverly soup and the flowers are delish nipped into a green salad. They are garden thugs though, but Ok if contained in a bed. Wilbur that lamb recipe looks nice too. If I had some right now Id be putting them in the Dauphinoise were having for dinner.

Rudy- we can be lurex cardi buddies Grin

I have completed the student finance form, almost, but will haver to broach the subject of DD's mums death cert Sad with Granny later. Feel quite sick about having to ask for such a thing tbh, but dds Independent status requires proof. Grim.
I have packaged 29 items for posting tomorrow ( ebay sales) The grumpy man at the Post office is going to just love me. Seriously the things people buy - tat with a capital T.

lalsy · 09/03/2014 17:15

Well done all you green fingered lot - I must get cracking.

Herbs and Rudy, so tough, and the uncertainty makes things worse. I am not sure there is a right way for doctors to address the timing question, and it is a very difficult issue to communicate effectively over.

BTM, we get those clashes too - think it goes with the territory for young/mid teens, lots of whipping phones out to remote control them home, or having to be on standby for lifts/pickles. We have vague arrangement that I/we are available for ds on Fridays (not that he thinks he needs us but he does sometimes) and not Saturdays (which we often spend watching tv with him anyway....). dd comes and goes under her own steam, which is a bit nerve wracking but doesn't require any logistical back up.

Crem, well done on the form, and Sad on the death certificate (I guess they won't accept a copy so you cd order one quietly?).

bigTillyMint · 09/03/2014 17:27

Green fingered, me?Grin

Actually that's quite a good plan, lalsy - tis very rare that both DH and I are out on a Friday night whereas we are most Saturdays. Not that that would stop them making plans for Saturdays!

motherinferior · 09/03/2014 17:32

Mr Inferior and I are very rarely out together. I like the fact I get to see my friends without any problem but do sometimes suspect he doesn't actually want to spend much time with me, which is a bit insulting. Or not want to enough to sort it out.

lalsy · 09/03/2014 17:35
Smile

Yes, that's what we have found. It's not that we don't go out the other nights, just that those are the defaults, so we'd triple check if it was the other way round - and sometimes say no to Saturday plans that have no parental martini windows (the litmus test). It's for a relatively short period anyway - no way do we stay up late enough to see dd home these days!

NUFC69 · 09/03/2014 17:36

I do wish I was coming to the MU to see you all in your lurex! (This is probably why I bought a sequined cardigan last week, preparation for the next one, and not to wear on the cruise on formal nights). I have visions of disco divas - what a lot of fun you'll have.

I find that drinking upsets me overnight so I don't bother much these days. We went very retro before lunch and actually had a sherry - I can't remember when I last had one, tbh I really enjoyed it.

The DC and GC have all gone home and we're (once again) crashed out in the sitting room. Mostly child free this week , although I am going with DD and the children to the Centre for Life to a preschool day which should be fun.

lalsy · 09/03/2014 17:39

Us too, MI, is rare, but we do enjoy a martini on Saturday evenings....When we do venture out together, we also usually manage to arrive from different directions on different modes of transport in some confusion about the other one's whereabouts.

bigTillyMint · 09/03/2014 17:42

Lalsy, that sounds quite romantic - proper dates! DH and I rarely go out together on our own IYSWIM - too boring! We usually are meeting friends so that I can chat to the women, and he can chat to the menGrin

lalsy · 09/03/2014 18:02

Mmmmm, more chaotic than romantic and always involving other people too - we are going out to lunch together at the end of April though, nothing like forward planning Smile.

motherinferior · 09/03/2014 18:25

I feel better nowGrin

That makeup on train thread is making me want go and apply an entire faceful of slap on a special journey. Who knew it was such a repulsive habit?

hattymattie · 09/03/2014 18:28

BTM you just described our evening out last night, DH with men and me catching up with the girls.

I booked our Saturday in advance with my teenagers to ensure that we weren't expected to drive anybody anywhere and also that somebody was at home to babysit DS. I think it's only fair that we get to go out occasionally.

I've had lovely lazy day today as it's been 20° and beautiful although much too warm for the season.

bigTillyMint · 09/03/2014 18:37

My DC seem to like to be spontaneous. IE no plans, just spur of the moment invites which clash with ours.
DD is now saying a friend is having a party next Sat when PIL are staying (so they may be disappointed that she is not in) and we are going out....

Yes, my car thermometer said 21 when I went to the garden centre and it was lovely weather all day. This week is set to be good tooSmile
