Toning tables - gimmick or good?

The local beauty salon has toning tables (where you lie down and let the machines do the exercising for you).

Has anyone tried them, and do they work? I like the idea of loafing about with my ipod whilst my limbs go up and down with no input from me Grin

All Olympic athletes use them

Yes?

They were big in the early 90s. I haven't heard of them since.

A friend used them for her daughter who has cerebral palsy. If you're healthy put your runners on and go out for a walk.

I walk anyway, it's free and a good opportunity to catch up with my buddy. But these tables sound pretty cheap and and convenient. The salon is pretty new, so guessing they are the latest technology.

If you use them properly the machines don't exercise your muscles for you. You have to use your muscles to resist them so you will feel like you are working them.

Aha. That makes sense.
