Used a L'Oreal Steam Pod?

Today at the hairdresser's she used this to straighten my hair. Great results, as good as GHDs but it uses steam so is allegedly better for your hair.

I am in the market for new straighteners as my GHDs are on their last legs. Usually I wouldn't consider anything else but I want to give my hair some TLC.

Has anyone got a Steam Pod? I'm just wary that they may not be as good as GHDs when I use them myself. Also how long does the steam tank last on the smaller model?

Oooh not got one but watching with interest as i have also been to hairdressers today and she used it and it was amazing! Been looking at buying one as the ghds are breaking my hair...all the reviews I've read Sen great?

I've had one for about 6 months and it is magic. It is so satisfying the way it transforms my hair and is way better than a ghd... It almost temporarily changes the structure if your hair, especially if you use the steam pod cream. The best thing is my hairdresser keeps commenting in te amazing condition of my hair. I don't use my ghds anymore as I felt they damaged my hair. The steampod is so satisfying to use too.... It makes a noise like an iron. I can't live without mine but it doesn't travel well.

Hair is still straight and swishy this morning Grin

Netty do you have the salon one with the big tank or the standard one?

Do you think it would be any good for fine medium length hair or best suited to those with wavy thick locks?

I have fine (but lots of it, so I'm told) just below the shoulder hair if that helps!

I need one Smile

I keep looking at these.

How do they really compare with GHDs ? There is nothing wrong with mine but would buy one if they are better................ Years of abuse to my hair have left it dry and frizzy and if I don't straighten it daily i look like an extra from the hair bear bunch !!

I have the one with the tank!! It is brilliant! I can't begin to tell you how it has changed my life.... Well my hair!! But it's bloody brilliant and makes my hair perfect... And I've struggled wih my hair my whole life... This has allowed me to grow it long. I wash it, put in the cream or serum on ends then sleep on it then steam it in the morning.. It swishes all day long and just doesn't look or feel like my hair!!

Where can I buy one??? I need this in my life! GHD have ruined my lovely hair. Hmm

netty36 · 22/02/2014 09:17

I bought mine from an accredited salon and the lady threw in the steampod cream and serum for my hair type. A good salon can order you one in.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 22/02/2014 10:21

I bought one at looks fantastic, got a code for 15% off so £135 for the gadget and two creams / serum they are £150 on amazon.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 25/02/2014 18:38

yey it arrived today and is amazing, hair all soft and shiney and no crisp an dry feeling at the ends like I get with GHD's. cant wait to see if it lasts overnight.

this makes me feel really old but my first pair of hair straighteners, about 15 years ago, maybe more, were steam based. Believe it or not, if you're in your late 30s, hair straighteners were once new fangled and it was quite a novelty to have a pair! I remember reading about them for the first time in Minx magazine and rushing straight out to buy a pair. I was so excited by them, but they made almost no difference to my hair Grin

treaclesoda · 25/02/2014 19:00

gah, it must be more than 15 years ago...Sad
