bra intervention - for teens!

and first time bra wearers, i need top tips for where to buy. dd is 12, and i almost had a row with the lady in m&s yesterday when she couldn't understand why i refused for dd to be measured there.

anyway, the long and short of it is i'm having trouble finding dd something on a small scale, 28 b/c kind of size. she tried one on in m&s that was a 30b and it fitted ok but was too big on the band, looked on the website and they don't seem to do it in 28 b or c, they only do 28 in an aa or aa in some and the ones they do make in the right size are out of stock.

any tips on where to buy for teen bra's?, or are we going to have to go full on bravissimo?

ps, she's currently wearing matalan ones in 28a but the cup is now too small. in their range they only do 28aa, 28a, 30aa, 30a and so on, nowt bigger than an a!

Sorry 25 back not 26.

StatisticallyChallenged · 20/02/2014 22:39

The reason I was asking is that there are companies who do custom made bras however if she's only 12 and grown that much since christmas I would say that's not a worthwhile option just now. It might be worth trying to get by with adjustments for a wee while. You can get non-wired bras in 28A-Dish from John Lewis. It might be worth trying them.

Picturesinthefirelight · 20/02/2014 22:55

I'm on the john Lewis website now and can't find anything sized 28. They have one teen bra in small medium or large & there are no dimensions given.

Am I not looking properly? My nearest store is 35 miles away. Locally we have Debenhams & m & s plus primark peacocks bhs and new look

StatisticallyChallenged · 20/02/2014 23:01

The JL website is odd, but find bra sizes from the search box..28C results

Wouldn't recommend the dyson tho ;)

Picturesinthefirelight · 20/02/2014 23:05

I'd quite like a Dyson!!!!!

Do they not think that teens need white bras to go underneath white school blouses though?

StatisticallyChallenged · 20/02/2014 23:10

The megan one comes in white although they only have a 28D in stock which I suspect will be big in the cups (although probably not for long!)

M&S do a few I think but I wouldn't even take her in to their fitting room as they'll be after her with a tape measure

here, here

Picturesinthefirelight · 20/02/2014 23:18

Yes I've had awful fittings from m and s. she's also not fussed on the idea of underwire which most Of their 28c seem to be

We tend to go to John Lewis 2-3 times a year. They measured me correctly, took me from an m&s 34/36 C to a 32 D/DD

StatisticallyChallenged · 20/02/2014 23:25

Sadly they're a rare size so there is not much selection.

Picturesinthefirelight · 20/02/2014 23:29

Yet the shops are full of 28aa. theres a whole market this being missed out there.

Picturesinthefirelight · 20/02/2014 23:30

I mean what measurements even constitute 28aa

StatisticallyChallenged · 20/02/2014 23:33

28aa is basically for 28 under and about 28.5 over. Without checking I think the marks chart says that it's for 23/28. Aye. Right. Cos a five inch difference is a aa right enough. Eejits

Picturesinthefirelight · 20/02/2014 23:40

I'm guessing marks would have dd in a 30aa?

JennySense · 20/02/2014 23:46

I get my daughter's teen bras from bras4all www.bras4all.co.uk/teen-bras-wirefree-light-support-bras-for-developing-breasts/cat_8.html
If you drop them and email or phone they will give you fitting advice. One problem I had with DD was that I was getting the position of the back strap wrong which was affecting the fit.

Picturesinthefirelight · 21/02/2014 00:10

They do seem to stock 28c. Maybe they would consider 26 d?

Theas18 · 21/02/2014 00:19

Dd had some like this for a while. They seem to go to bigger cup sizes than I recall too. Well done JL!

Dd is now the proud owner of 2 28 B bras. If we come across any 26C anywhere she'll try them but she says they feel good

But Aargh! Whilst changing for dance her friend noticed & asked/stealth looked at the size. Says they are way to big fir dd & she can't possibly be a B & she's been fitted wrong.

Friend is wearing 32 A. Granted she's a little bigger than dd but not that much

I gave dd an intervention lesson but told her its best not to say anything. Assuming friend has had the M&S Treatjent I reckon 28 C ish.

Nocomet · 25/02/2014 22:21

Please don't look at labels, DD2 hasn't yet asked to go bra shopping, but I have caught her in DD1's old ones.

These were bought long before I read a bra intervention thread and DD2 was a 10 not a 6. No way is DD2 a 34 AA, but it actually looked quite sensible.

Chances of her letting me measure her are slight, chances of her letting a shop measure her are zero.

Nocomet · 25/02/2014 22:23

Sorry wrong way round.
DD1 was a 10-12 adult dress size when she was bought that bra.
DD2 is a 6, slightly shorter and way slighter, both by genetics and gymnastics.

Northernlurker · 25/02/2014 22:29

Interesting thread. I've one dd in a 32dd and the other in 32A atm.

Picturesinthefirelight · 25/02/2014 23:41

Dd didn't want to tell her friend the size. But found she had looked anyway after class.
