What do I do with my hair???

I need a haircut. My hair is well below shoulder length, dark brown and curly/frizzy. It's also thinning a bit - I'm 49 and I think it's my age.

It always looks scruffy and I don't like putting it up. I also hate it short.

It tends to look dull and frizzy, if not straightened, even though I use Body Shop Rainforest shampoo and conditioner, no silicones, a little Orofluido oil and I let it dry naturally. I straighten it for work to try and look tidy, but feel it does nothing for me as it just hangs down at the sides of my face (can't have a fringe due to cow lick - sp?).

Considering a curly/wavy bob, but it tends to go very curly in top and flat at the back and underneath, looking very odd. Plus looking dull.

I've looked on Pinterest, but don't know how to get it evenly curly/wavy all over and no longer know what style will suit me. I can't afford an expensive hairdresser, but need to do something about it, it's doing nothing for my self confidence.

I have a normal shaped face (oval?) but slightly flabby cheeks - I'm size 12/14 and 5 feet 7.

Any suggestions?

I have the same type of hair. I used to have it long but I only ever tied it back with a scrunchie. I went for a really radical choppy bob ( £10, local polish hairdresser) She attacked my barnet like she was cutting an overgrown hedge. It is inverted and short at the back and longer at the front, It is the best haircut I've ever had. I pile on the wax and serum and scrunch it up. It works!

Do you manage to keep it shiny?

Well I wash it every day and use a lot of serum( argon oil), but no conditioner. It looks fairly shiny, but my hair is coarse textured. It looks stacks better than before.
My hair is poker straight at the back and underneath but this help give the cut definition at the back where it is cut short into the nape of my neck.
