Had a lovely evening with DD's gym squad and mums/dad and her old coach in Pizza Express. And I still have the above-mentioned newspaper to readSmile

We are not sci-fi/fantasy fans, so I have no idea what Forbidden Planet is! But I am well acquainted with New Look and H&M. I find the online branches much more relaxing thoughWink

CointreauVersial · 08/02/2014 21:30

Blimey, Herbs, just how many committees are you on?

A lazy day here; I was going to go to Kingston but after seeing the weather forecast I've postponed it until tomorrow. I have a stack of John Lewis vouchers burning a proverbial hole in my purse. DS is coming too, as he has decided his wardrobe is lacking "party clothes".

Interesting dinner this evening. DD1 and I defrosted and butchered a Lidl lobster which had been lurking in the freezer for the last couple of months. Very tasty, but not exactly a feast between the two of us. So I'm now scoffing a slab of cheese and drinking Rioja. Balanced, no?

bigTillyMint · 08/02/2014 21:56

Oooh CV, I am looking forward to seeing what teen boy "party clothes" are!

MrsSchadenfreude · 08/02/2014 22:42

I bought this today and told DH it was his birthday present to me. Luckily for him it was half price. I thought I needed cheering up after this week, and the sum total of my birthday presents being a tea towel and a box of notelets.

MrsSchadenfreude · 08/02/2014 22:43

(Mine is purple.) Smile

Be sure to extract the moolah this time, Mrs S.

CV - I am on a mere two committees, but their commitments abutted over the past two days to create an unfortunate load.

CointreauVersial · 09/02/2014 01:36

Oh I do like that bag, MrsS. Where did you find it half price?

I prefer a bag with a cross-body strap and am contemplating this one in taupe. Or possibly this (but what colour?).

NUFC69 · 09/02/2014 06:23

I love both bags, but particularly the Boden one (especially in Fountain). I dare not even suggest one for my birthday next month as I bought a Dune red one in November and DH gave me a beautiful tan one for Christmas.

Just having tea in bed before starting the long trek south.

Blackduck · 09/02/2014 07:45

Loverly bag MrsS and a vast improvement on flowery note lets!

Been howling a gale here all night - seriously thought the windows wouldn't hold at one point.

I am trying to knock out a conference abstract but think my brain may have gone missing....

bigTillyMint · 09/02/2014 07:46

I love both too, CV (infact I was looking at that Boden one in fountain and apricot, but I am trying to reign myself in!). And yours MrsS!

Hope your visit goes OK, NU.

hattymattie · 09/02/2014 09:04

Envy Envy For bag Mrs S - I love purple - my old Lancel has finally given up but to replace it was 300 Euros even in the salesSad. I was looking at the Boden one too but they have been so disappointing with their clothes recently I'm starting to go off them. I love that hobo bag CV.

herbaceous · 09/02/2014 09:48

I've been very fond of my Peony and Moore Mariella, though mine is in aubergine, which they don't seem to do any more. Roomy, but collapses down when not full, making it v versatile...

MrsSchadenfreude · 09/02/2014 09:58

CV - I got it in the Coach shop on Regent Street. Bizarrely they are still full price on the website. I love the JL taupe bag but would want a zip top. Less keen on the Boden bag in that colour but liked the nude one. I am going to get rid of a couple of bags - I have a Romanian "designer" one in lime green and orange and a huuuuge turquoise squashy leather one that I bought in New York for about $30 which is excellent as your "hand bag" when flying as it holds everything but the kitchen sink. Oh now I am having second thoughts about the NY bag...!

motherinferior · 09/02/2014 10:46

I am immune to bags...except satchels. My new mini one is adorable.

Friend/colleague has now had row with Difficult Client (over payment) and I've been asked not to use him againHmm

herbaceous · 09/02/2014 11:52

Merciful lord. Just done third of the second C25K week, and am barely alive. The combination of mild incline and strong headwind was almost fatal. Does anyone else find that one session your legs are OK but lungs almost come out of your mouth, and the next session it's the other way around?

QueenQueenie · 09/02/2014 12:04

Oh yes Herbs. I don't suppose you'll believe me but honestly I found the weirdest thing was that it did actually get easier for me. In the early weeks I honestly thought I was going to die - I couldn't breathe and / or my legs felt like lead weights / string. But, it did get easier! I think by the end of week 3 or so breathing was no longer a problem, I got out of breath but in a manageable way. I don't know how or why but it does just work if you stick with the programme. I can now run for 30 minutes at a stretch - it's hard work but ok.
What I have found is that for me i makes a surprising difference what time of day I do it. I find running early evening, before dinner, is 1000 times easier than early morning... so that's what I do. You can do it Herbs and will get a real feeling of satisfaction from it.

herbaceous · 09/02/2014 12:38

Thanks for the cheering!

I'm already feeling very 'go grrrr', as I always thought I was congenitally incapable of running. And am already feeling fitter, and tighter, and perhaps a little bit slimmer.

And it is already getting (a little bit) easier. I think the afternoons are better for me, too, but it's easier to fit it in in the mornings, so that's tended to be the pattern.

motherinferior · 09/02/2014 13:04

I didn't puff as much as I feared - I think because I was a regular swimmer - but the crackly knees are quite something GrinI have looked them up and if they don't hurt it's apparently fine but they are quite dramatic.

Stropperella · 09/02/2014 22:58

Grin at MI's dramatic knees. Run, crepeys, run. Grin

On reading the talking therapy leaflet, I found out that I could self-refer via the net. So I did that yesterday.

Currently still slogging through a text for delivery tomorrow, but feeling not so bad despite a stinking cold.

And no, we didn't catch the rat. Unfortunately. The dog was v. disappointed.

lalsy · 09/02/2014 23:48

What is it with knees? Surely they should not be able to creak duets out together (mine are actually more tuneful than my voice)?

Stropps, I am disappointed too about the rat (I really hate rats and like to hear of them coming to a nasty end Blush) - and well done on getting the referral kicked off, I hope it works out.

Have a good week, crepeys. I have had an unusually sociable weekend and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

CointreauVersial · 10/02/2014 00:03

MI - I too was "immune" to bags for years. Only when I finally stopped lugging around a nappy bag did a red mist descend, and I started buying handbags.

I went to Kingston today and bought the JL hobo bag, but I shall leave it for a few days before I decide to keep it (I might stroke it and sniff it a few times).

MrsSchadenfreude · 10/02/2014 00:07

I have been fighting a low level fever for a few days now, and it appears to have become a fully blown cold now. Going to suck on a Lemsip and go to bed.

Blackduck · 10/02/2014 08:40

I am like MI - immune to bags.... I am currently carrying a health back rucksack here - not the most attractive thing, but surprisingly roomy and easy to carry (I like my arms free).

I should run, I know I should run, but I don't want to......

Crepeys - Paris at Easter looks like a goer so I need to know: good, cheap hotels (in a reasonable location); things to do with a 10 year old. (haven't been in years myself.....

bigTillyMint · 10/02/2014 09:01

I am not immune to bags, and I am itching to get another.... But not a healthy backpack, BD Grin

Paris at Easter will be fab! Mine said the best thing they liked was the Eiffel Tower (similar ages) - top tip is book in advance to skip the queues a bit (we didn't but got there very early!) They also loved Disneyland Paris (did the full day, gulp - MrsS is the expert though!) Bateaux Mouches are good too!
