What is this called and how do I cure it / prevent it getting worse? It's not from an injury or anything, it just kind of appeared?

I'd rub coconut oil in at least twice a day, take a good multi vit and super glue the crack so it doesn't get worse!Smile

If I get cracks like this, I put a tiny piece of tape over it (that medical tape that's used for sticking bandages, what's it called????) then superglue over it, it stops it cracking further

NumptyNu · 03/02/2014 21:15

Really? Superglue?

Yes, just a bit. It soaks into the tape which is porous, I've remembered it's called micro pore!!!, making a really strong coating to the nail.

Guitarists use super glue to harden/repair their nails!

OneLittleLady · 03/02/2014 22:21

you can also glue it with the bag part of a tea bag cut to size and glue! Bit thrifty that though it's the same principle as the micro pore tape just without being sticky sided!

burnishedsilver · 03/02/2014 23:06

Yep. Superglue.
Also, this stuff.

Onelittlelady, great tip there, thanks

I really do sympathise. I had a cracked nail since 11 when I had an operation on my left hand. Nails on my first and second fingers kept coming off and just lately (due to neglect on my part) there is split nail on the third finger. I have kept my nail as short as I can but tend to pick at it which of course does not help. I try to keep it painted but it pokes through the nail polish - or seems to!

I would like to try Annabelannabel's tip but I am extremely clumsy and get covered in superglue, really I am a danger to myself!

CointreauVersial · 07/02/2014 17:24

You can buy nail repair kits, which have little sticky strips and a pot of glue to seal them on. The glue is basically superglue anyway.

Cointreau - that still sounds like danger to me!!!!!
