Have any of you lot come across this before?! We were on our family holiday in greece last summer and while over there one of the hotel staff asked about the old birkenstocks i had on one day when were off out on a day trip. Apparently they are quite hard to get hold of over there, they dont have a decent ebay it's pretty rubbish. If you look at the pics i attached below i actually ended up selling these old girls before i left for 20 euros! Now dont get me wrong i love my birkenstock sandals inc these yellow ones but after consultation with my OH (well for about 10 secs) i decided hell im gonna sell em then at that price!
I have only just remembered to have a look, here's hoping for a decent summer, seeing as i am on hol today from work for some more and noticed on ebay here that old ones sell pretty well too looking at the completed listings bit, hardly any dont sell! With times being a bit harsh money wise (still) I thought i would share on here too, whatever you do dont bin old birkies they always seem to sell whatever they are like, i mentioned it to a girlfriend a while back and she said oh yeah i had a friend that had her old ones nicked from the pool side in corfu. So if you go to greece or the islands put a little 'for sale' sign on them! Wherever mine are now i loved you but not that much!!

@ Damediaz.. I didn't sell mine on ebay it was face to face in Greece, not unless i had a Gay girl receptionist that has a 'different' interest or alternatively there is an underground Greek market i didn't know of!! Either way it was good for me!

yorkshirekell · 04/02/2014 14:13

Err i am not sure about those tbh think that is venturing into the darker side! I will be keeping an eye out on charity shops when i go into town in future and give the old girls a second life on ebay though!

I've of around 40 pairs of lovingly collected and tended Birks does this mean I've got a Birksfetish? The whole point of Birks is that the foot bed moulds your foot - not much good for second-hand wearing I'd have thought.

yorkshirekell · 04/02/2014 16:36

40 pairs???! :-0

bishboschone · 04/02/2014 20:24

Exactly Mimi .. And the soles go black and yuck when they abbé even worn a lot !

bishboschone · 04/02/2014 20:25

Ooh not sure what happened there .. I meant when they have been worn a lot .

yorkshirekell · 04/02/2014 20:58

Yes but unfortunately when they have turned black that is pretty much when they are the comfiest ironically it's just the way they are!

Why the hell do some of you have used Birkenstocks in your charity bags? No one at the charity shop wants to handle them . Throw them away like any decent human being!

ToysRLuv · 04/02/2014 22:23

I'm half Greek and have never heard of this thing. Confused But I do know about the "well worn" stuff on e-bay

yorkshirekell · 05/02/2014 08:38

I had never heard of it to be honest but now I have at the end of this summer the birkenstock I have just bought will be going on ebay for twenty quid buy it now! I won't be chucking mine in the wheelie bin if someone is going to buy them that's their business and it goes towards buying new ones plus I am being green and not dumping in land fill! Wink
