Help me with shaving!

I get my legs waxed every 5-6 weeks along with a Brazilian, I'm trying to save money (just booked holiday) and I'm going to keep getting Brazilian done but I've shaved my legs, I know you will say don't do it but I've done it!

Even when I got them waxed they were not silky smooth so I'm not fussed and when I shave their smooth for a day or do then jaggy again Hmm

What am I doing wrong? I'm blonde but very very hairylegs!

Oh and I use a new razor and conditioner to shave, but I am guilty of not moisturising religiously Shock

Holding skin taut helps a bit, as does exfoliating the day before shaving.

Could you wax your legs at home?

Tbh, my solution was laser hair removal. It's not all gone- I was extremely hairy- but now I can go a few days between shaving. It's not v moneysaving though, but gave me confidence to wear skirts so was worth it.

Weelady77 · 02/02/2014 14:10

Oh blue I'll try that holding my leg taught, the girl who does my waxing does the laser hair removal and she said it wouldn't benefit me as I'm so fair Hmm

I've just ordered shaving oil whether it makes a difference or not is another matter!

Why do you think you're doing something wrong - of course it's jaggy after a day or so, the hair's growing back. There's nothing really you can do about it, other than shave every day...

Waxing/epilating takes hair out at the root, so it has to re-grow under the skin before it shows.

Shaving/Veeting cuts hair off at the surface - so as soon as it grows, it's above the surface.

Moisturising might make the hairs feel softer so less noticeable, but they'll still be there!

Investing in a good epilator might be worth it for you?

Weelady77 · 02/02/2014 16:01

Lord all my friends legs are so smooth, mines are so jaggy dd moans when touches them, I don't mind shaving everyday as I'm in the shower anyway it's the jaggy stubble that bothers me!

I bought an epilator used it on a tiny section of my leg and it got put back in box and never seen light of day again it was agony!! Hats of to those who use them Shock

Really? I am very Envy of your friends

I have an epilator and you do get used to it, honestly! Better in the bath and better if you spend a bit more on a Braun - mine was about £100. I am giving it a rest because I was having ingrowing hair problems, but am planning to go back to it... In the meantime though it's daily shaving!

Weelady77 · 02/02/2014 17:30

So am I envious of them they only need to shave once a fortnight then moan they have hairy legs!! Which is like mine the following day of me shaving!
Infact my legs are hairier than my best friends DH lol!

My epilator is either Braun or Philips I bought it cause it was half price think I paid £30 or something so it is probably a shit one Hmm

Conditioner doesn't work as well as shaving foam that is specifically for women ime, its by the razors in Boots. It's fab stuff, combined with a king of shaves razor you'll be silky smooth!

Minshu · 02/02/2014 19:26

Exfoliate first, then use a razor with 4 or 5 blades. I do find conditioner just as good as foam. Oil after shaving, before getting fully dry. And then shave every three or four days. Smoother than epilady or wax for me.

CharleyFarnsbarns · 02/02/2014 23:24

I have a cheapish Phillips epilator and if you can keep going it does get less painful. A very cold flannel slapped on the area you have just done helped me.

I'm lazy now and stopped using it after DS arrived and I get stubble the day after shaving. I think your friend may be freakishly un-hairy!

WhereIsMyHat · 02/02/2014 23:49

Shaving oil is my new and brilliant discovery. I use my H's king of shaves one. Much better than any creams/ foams/ gels I've tried. I use a re-usable Venus razor.

MrsCakesPremonition · 02/02/2014 23:56

I don't believe that your friends only need to shave once a fortnight to stay completely smooth. Either they are more tolerant of the regrowth than you are, or else they are actually shaving more often than they are admitting to.

Weelady77 · 03/02/2014 07:32

Honestly once a fortnight sometimes even longer in winter!! I'm glad I'm not the only hairy mary cause my friends think I'm freakish!!

There hair grows more finer and softer whereas mines is course and loads of it Hmm
