DIY gel nails

So....after again having nails done today that are already peeling and cost £15 I am considering buying my own gel nail kit as I think I could do the job better! I don't have time to keep going back to get them redone when mistakes have been made (in more than one salon). Has any bought a good set? Is it cheaper to buy all the bits separately? Does anyone know what bits I'd need? Many thanks for your help :-)

I have the sensational kit, but use polishes by red carpet, gelish, cnd, etc. as well as some cheaper alternatives. At the time I purchased it was better to buy them separately but recently they've been doing some good deals on their starter packs. I've had mine done twice with gels, first time they lifted in a matter of days, second time they lasted about a fortnight. Gels I do myself last about a fortnight too. Normal polish doesn't last 3 days with me! Gel is also easier to apply I find.

Same here, got sick of the salon ones peeling off. I bought the Sensational kit on offer from boots at the beginning of December. Was £45. Have done it 3/4 times so far (1 being just that I fancied a color change). Really happy with it.

Have just re-read my post and it doesn't make sense. I meant I have had mine done twice professionally, with mixed results. I have done it myself loads and find it usually lasts about 2 weeks or until it looks tatty and I fancy a change. Also, I think I've had my kit for coming up to two years. I bought the essentials kit and a lamp, the essentials kit has double the amount of stuff than the normal starter kit. I've not worn gel the entire two years but I'm only just coming to the end of the first essentials kit. I really love it!
