What to wear for lunch on Saturday?

Big family lunch for a 70th birthday party on Saturday, at a smart restaurant.

As usual am struggling to know what to wear! I have a couple of options in my wardrobe and have found them on ebay to show you. I'm 5'5", 8-10, big norks.

I have a Great Plains bird print dress which is silk and pretty smart. Looks much nicer on than in that photo. Have lovely shoes that go with it, it's very flattering. But it's a couple of years old and the print is maybe a bit dated?

I also have a Wallis snakeprint dress like this one. I feel good in it but can't walk very well in the shoes that go with it Grin and not sure if it's suitable for a family lunch or not? Also it might be a bit chilly - what could I wear over it?

My only other option is dark skinny jeans and a smart top or blouse but not sure if that's really dressy enough?

Final option is to panic and go shopping tomorrow! I'd really like a nice day dress but they always seem to elude me.

I think the Great Plains one is lovely. What are the shoes like? Would be nice with a wee cardigan and nice necklace. Perfect for such an occasion - dressy enough but not overdressed for Sunday lunch.

Defo go for one of your dresses and not jeans. People in their 70s don't generally think of jeans as a smart outfit

No that was my thinking Kristina - I know that the guest of honour likes smart dress and has only very recently been persuaded to try a pair of jeans!

I'm glad you think the GP dress isn't too dressy, HeadFull - I always feel very dressed up in it. Never sure whether that's mainly because I'm nearly always in jeans? The shoes are cream and red and pick out the colours in the print very nicely. It's just that my family have seen me wear it several times I don't get out much Maybe I should look for a cardi to dress it down a notch?

Either dress would be lovely. If you go with the Wallis dress put it with black boots, instead of shoes, and a little black cardigan.
