have a date day with DH planned at the weekend, thanks to lovely SIL babysitting. We are going to a posh restaurant (dress code says smart-casual), possibly cinema, possibly cocktails.

It's like I have forgotten how to put an outfit together. I have a killer dress that I look just about as good as I can in. Can't find a link, but it's a bright orange/red, double lined fitted dress - not quite 'bandage' style but probably bodycon, normally hate the style but the neckline, cut and colour flatter me, and as a new mum I feel good in it. I'm an hourglass, size 12/14.

What the hell do I wear with it. Was thinking I would try and give it an edge, maybe tights and Chelsea boots rather than the awfully Middleton nude heels that are gathering dust somewhere in the depths of my wardrobe! And jackets! Can't wheel out the trusty Merrell for this...

Oh dear Sad
Any and all help welcomed!

If you're going to the cinema I would play the dress down with a biker jacket and boots, otherwise you'll look overdressed... if its the restaurant and cocktails then vamp it up with a faux fur jacket or blazer and shoe boots? Add a scarf too.... (i'm not a chelsea boot fan, might look clumpy, but try it..)

THANK YOU Madame. Biker jacket is a great tip, hadn't thought of that... I need to rummage in my wardrobe.

Boots might be too clumpy on second thought, my calves are not my best feature... Love the shoeboot idea. Thanks Thanks

jewellery is always good - statement stuff.

You could contrast with purple or bright pink. and may give the outfit an edge.

Oooh I have just the necklace! It's coming together...

It sounds lovely but too much for the cinema. Maybe decide before you go if its cocktails or cinema.

That's just it exactly burnished.

The posh restaurant does kind of throw a spanner in the wardrobe, so to speak. Think I will just have to talk DH into fancy cocktails after all this effort!
