Eyeshadows. How to do it these days?

I have brown eyes, on the bigger side. I used to wear a lot of eyeshadows but none since having DD 3 years ago. Put some on today and looked great iimssm.

I have luquid and pencil eyeliners and a lot of different colours of eye shadows. What are the done things these days?

I used to do the highlighted inner eye and under the eyebrow bits and the medium on the lids and the darkest colour in the crease and maybe under the eye contour. Or inner eyelid lighted and outer bit darker (light blue/ dark green sort of thing).

Have you watched any of the Tanya Burr tutorials on youtube? She has lovely big brown eyes, and always manages to look great.

I haven't but will. Was hoping I get pointed into direction if some tutorials, there are so many on youtube you don't know what's good.

I highly recommend her and Lisa Eldrigde. Pixiwoo are also my faves but both have light eyes, though they do brown eye tutorials also.

Good luck.

Really odd question, but.....how do you avoid dry eyelids?! Skin on my face is fine but skin on my eyelids is dry so I avoid wearing eyeshadow and draining attention to them. Is there a special upper eye-lid eye cream or primer I can buy?

I

I disagree that tanya burr has big brown eyes! She has tiny squinty eyes like a crab!
I tend to find a colour that looks good without blending as a light wash all over the eyelid, neutral or a slight gold or pink toned shimmer work well for this. Then i do a thin line of liquid eyeliner, very thin then thickening as it sweeps out to the outer corner and ending with a flick. Then add mascara.
If i've got a bit more time i blend together two or more eyeshadow, starting with the lighter colour in the inner corner to just before the middle of the eye where the pupil begins (this is the same 'point' i thicken my eyeliner) then add the darker colour on the rest of the lid and blend.
An eyeshadow primer will make your eyeshadow last longer and prevent chalkiness.
I highly recommend urban decay for primer and eyeshadow. I'm skint atm though and have been using mua equivalents and they're pretty good.
I don't rate rimmel/maybelline shadows at all.

I'm frequently being told what big beautiful eyes i have so i must be doing something right... Hmm

I am clueless with eyeliner so I will be looking on YouTube too. For shadow I recommend Clinique chubby sticks because they are soft and non drying. Nb this is not an advertGrin.

Christine of Temptalia has brown eyes and always has great makeup generally, including eye makeup.

citrus I just put a smidgen of face cream over my eyes. And drink a lot of water as I had papery lower lids for a while. The water seems to have sorted it out.
