My see through maxi dress

I just bought a cotton maxi dress, I just love it, it looks lovely on me and it light and cool. Only when I wore it out today did dh tell me that its completely see through if I am standing in the light Shock. I didn't even think of it as its a royal blue colour, but yep, on doing the inspection, it leaves not a lot to the imagination...

So what to do.... is there such a thing as a modern petticoat/slip? I don't really want to sew a lining in as it will make it too warm, its the lightness of the fabric that I love. I haven't ever owned a slip but casting my mind back to the awful beige ones that my mother wore - just no! Its just the bottom half, the top isn't see through at all. Is there some magical items that is now available that I haven't come across as yet?

I saw an ankle length slip on the Next website the other day, which can be worn two ways. I think it was one of the hold it all in types though if i remember correctly, but remember thinking it would be good under a mxi dress/skirt.

here it is.

If not, maybe wear leggings underneath? Idid this last year, was a bit hot in high summer though!

MollyBerry · 26/01/2014 15:50

We're you not freezing?! (Unless you're not in the uk)

I have a see through skirt and wear a slip a bit like that next one, it just looks like a skirt lining from the outside

Starballbunny · 26/01/2014 15:52

I'd probably just make myself a light slip to go under it, so I could still wear it without on real hot holiday evenings and damn it being see through.

RonaldMcDonald · 26/01/2014 16:06

Can you wear well covering nude shorts and bra and brave it anyway!!

Minnieisthedevilmouse · 26/01/2014 16:08

Spanx?

lollylaughs · 27/01/2014 10:06

MrsMeow ah I think that will work, but I will have to trawl the shops here to look for one....

Mollyberry No I am in SA and we have been having a heatwave Wink.

I didn't think about spanx or shorts but I will look for a slip type item I think.

Thanks everyone.
