Nail varnish

Is it even called varnish anymore?!

Can someone recommend please a base coat (not nail envy) and the best staying varnish.

I have used envy (meh)

I use seche vite top coat (not meh) but only lasts a couple of days

I use expensive and cheap so any price range.

I'd like a nudey colour I think, maybe also a white tip colour? Are they still available!? Ideally I'd like to pick them all up from the same counter.

Am off to see wolf of Wall Street tonight but beforehand going in john lewis and/or boots so suggestions please! Thank you very much Smile

Basecoat - Orly Bonder is really good.

Top Coat - I agree, I don't rate Seche Vite as much as others do - I love Sally Hansen Insta Dry or OPI Base and Top.

Varnish - OPI has the best staying power, Jessica is good too. Chanel is useless, chips within a couple of days.

Thanks!

I like the OPI base and top coat and really rate the Barry M gelly varnish. Stays on for a week. Good choice of colours too.

My favourite nude is OPI Tickle my France-y - I have a tendency to wear it off on the tips of my nails but this color is really forgiving, it just ends up looking like I've done the paler tips. I have bought it online but also in John Lewis.

Maybelline Rose Poudre in their gel range (read the packaging carefully as it looks like the normal long lading stuff). Also get the clear top coat. Both are £4.10 each at Boots.

Base coat - Sally Hansen.

Essie has a huge range of nude shades.

Sally Hanson mega shine top coat is a good top coat. Seche vit is a waste of money. It goes gloopy so quickly.

I don't think base coats make much difference bit have heard the cnd sticky base coat is amazing.

The most long lasting varnish I have found (and I have tried a lot) is the maybelline super stay 7 day gel polish. It last a good few days and my hands are always in water.

I have gone for an Essie white, and Sally Hansen salon peachy nude. Plus double duty base and top coat.

We'll see how they go!
