nice n' easy hair dye

I started using a Nice and Easy hair dye over a year ago to go back to being closer to my natural colour and move away from highlights which were costing a fortune. It was ok and worked well to cover grey etc for a while. Then the colour just looked dull and flat. I tried a slightly different shade on the last go, and it looks wrong. I guess there isn't going back now unless I grow the whole lot out or go to the salon and get highlights to make it look less horrible as it grows out or do you have any other solutions before I spend a fortune!? I should never have dyed it in the first place. I thought saving money at the hairdressers would be ok. I feel like I just ruined my hair instead! Any tips on getting back to a more natural colour? What do you Style and Beauty peeps recommend? My hair is naturally a mousy blond, shoulder length with some layers through it. The current colour is a dark blond which looks off with my skin tone :( - help! I fear pricey trip to the salon might be the only solution... or can you help?

I also use nice and easy but my hair is much darker than yours. I use light ash brown to fade out the greys a bit. In between I use aveda black malva shampoo and conditioner to stop it going brassy. This works well for me. It might be worth looking into this range to see if they do one for blond hair. It is quite ££££ though.

How long has it been since you died it? I use Nice and Easy medium natural brown and love it, but it does take a week for the excess die to wash out.

Get some highlights put in .... ask your friends if they know a good mobile one ?

Last dyed it about a month ago, the colour has faded but it still looks wrong....

try a different brand. i've used nice and easy and i can't get on with it at all, it irritates my scalp and the colour always seems to come out patchy, i guess their formula just doesn't agree with me.

on the other hand, l'oreal excellence i get on with really well.

I try to pick the ones that are multi tonal

Sometimes it can be that you now have too much grey and need to change your shade/base colour. It's just happened to me unfortunately and my hair now looks like a patchwork quilt Confused
