DIY UV Gel Nails

Does anyone have an at-home kit? Do you recommend it? If so, which one is it?

I've had them done in salons (Shellac etc) but would like to do it myself.

I have a home set with a uv light, they last longer than normal nail polish but not as long as a salon polish ime

My friend got stuff off ebay and with practice she is doing really well. There is a kit on QVC you could have a look at - at lease you have 30 days to return it if you can't get to grips with the system.

I have the one from QVC, Red Carpet Manicure and I've only used it twice but both times my polish lasted over a week with no chipping. It did start to lift at the cuticle after about 8days.

Normal polish is usually lucky to last 1-2 days on me before it chips.

I had shellac done at the salon for my summer holiday and it all chipped and peeled, one nail came off completely in the car on the way to the airport, not happy!

I have the Sensationail kit and I am amazed by how good it is, esp as I'm crap at doing my own nails. Only done it twice but both times it lasted 2 weeks without a single chip before I got a bit bored of it and picked it all off. Which I do not recommend! They sell it in Boots (poss only in the larger stores?) but it seems to be cheaper to buy direct from their website.

I bought the sensationail kit from boots just before Christmas when it was on offer (£45?). I've had shellac at the salon before and its never lasted more than two days before chipping Confused. This set is lasting just as well. I'm not as neat as a salon but with a lighter colour (have taupe at the moment) it's not that noticeable. Have only used it three times and every time has been better. I think the key is thin layers, it doesn't apply in quite the same way as a normal polish and I was putting it on too thickly.

I was quite sceptical and dithered over the purchase but would recommend. QVC may be a good way to try out a set with their 30 day guarantee.
