Underwired nursing bra for big boobs

Hello clever people of Mumsnet!

I know that comfy underwired bras exist because I've read about them here ... I've even participated, but cannot find the darned thread.

I'm currently in a rather mumsy soft cup Royce bra. I need an underwired nursing bra. I want to feed for a good few months but cannot cope without those wires!

I'm currently a 34j and am not so bothered about "pretty", but would like something in nude and also black.

Recommendations please!

The main UK based underwired bras don't actually go up to a J I don't think - they use odd sizing (skipping the double letters) so whilst they go up to an I in theory, it's actually equivalent to a GG

Ewa Michalak (awesome polish brand) does underwired nursing bras in pretty much all sizes. this one is in stock in your size. The alternative is to buy a standard bra and convert it - you get little kits on ebay which you use to turn it in to a drop cup.

I have never seen an underworld nursing bra before, if I had known they existed I would have invested in one 6 months ago instead of walking round with my boobs looking like a bag of saggy frozen peas Hmm

Sorry, I'm not much help but I shall be looking at any links found with interest, incase I decide to keep on breastfeeding!

StatisticallyChallenged · 21/01/2014 16:59

this is the anita which is only useful for those less than a GG. The do not do double sizes (So no DD, FF, GG,HH or JJ etc) so be careful when ordering

I havent tried the EM one I linked to but I have tried numerous other bras from them and I love them!

HazleNutt · 21/01/2014 17:26

get a normal bra and convert - you will have loads more to choose from.

Anita Maternity, from Fig leaves.com

They are brilliant!

HumphreyCobbler · 21/01/2014 17:28

This site has a good range
the nursing bra

DrivingToDistraction · 21/01/2014 17:31

I got one from ebay - a European brand called Lupoline. I don't know what size they went up to but it's lovely - like a very nice normal bra.

HazleNutt · 21/01/2014 17:34

Anita underwired does not do double sizes, so even their J is really a GG and several sizes too small for OP.

123Jump · 21/01/2014 18:00

Agree the Anita are no where big enough. OP, I was your size when bf ing. It was a nightmare. I never found one-and I believe I tried on and ordered every bra in the western world!!

StatisticallyChallenged · 21/01/2014 18:03

Did you try the Ewa Michalak one 123Jump? I've heard good things about it and the rest of their stuff is good

AnythingNotEverything · 21/01/2014 19:34

Hmmmm. Ok. If not wired, can you recommend one which gives me two separate boobs, as opposed to a shelf, and avoids that squished together sweaty cleavage effect?

No, go for wired ones, it's dead easy to convert. With J cup, you need the support and non-wired bras just don't offer it. Sweaty droopy monoboob, that's all they can do.

StatisticallyChallenged · 21/01/2014 19:47

Anything the one i linked to is wired and in your size

AnythingNotEverything · 21/01/2014 20:00

Sorry stat - I skim read. Wrists thoroughly slapped.

Thanks all. I'll investigate conversion first I think as I have some bras from pregnancy that fit perfectly.

Ha no worries, realised you'd probably missed it!

PrimalLass · 21/01/2014 20:08

I bought the clips to convert bras on eBay. Never got round to it however!

AnythingNotEverything · 21/01/2014 20:50

Primal there's a seller on eBay who does mail order conversion. I'm just enquiring about prices. My prayers may be answered.

I share your pain. I am a 36J and desperate for something that doesn't give me mono-boob. I went to mothercare and they had lots of nice ones on display but the only ones that went up to my size had to be hidden away in a box at the back of the rack! Depressing.

StatisticallyChallenged · 21/01/2014 21:04

Confitdecanard the one I linked to is available if you don't want to convert - although i believe converting works well too. Black version

Confitdecanard · 21/01/2014 21:05

Thanks Stat. In black as well - I'm spoilt!

Dollydowser · 21/01/2014 21:08

I bought those clips to convert my usual brand underwired bras into feeding bras as could never find any nursing bras to fit. I bought them from ebay. It was a slight heart in mouth moment as I cut the strap but turned out absolutely fine.
