I've used Estee Lauder Double Wear for the past few years but recently I've not found it as good as it once was and I'm now looking for an alternative!

My skin is combination, quite dry in the mornings but end up with an oily T-Zone some time early afternoon! I like good coverage because I get a bit spotty sometimesSad

Any ideas?

Laura Mercier Silk Creme is fantastic for dry skin and it gives a lovely, full coverage that is very radiant.

Absolutely hate DWear and have a nearly new bottle

Thought it was just me! Now wearing the pot of Max Factor Miracle Touch mainly the nice finish and also so quick to apply. Very happy with it. Cheap too.

SmeeHee · 19/01/2014 00:32

thatwouldbe I've got no idea if any shops stock Lily Lolo. I'm not even sure how I came across them TBH! I order from their website and they have a ridiculous number of different shades but because they do little sample pots it's easy to get a couple of different shades to work out what's best. I find it so quick and easy to apply and I have less of an oily t-zone issue than I used to have, although that could be due to getting older! Grin

another vote for lily lolo mineral powder.. It's very natural but great cover (and a good price) I buy online on their own website Smile

The new liquid l'oreal one is amazing and brilliant. Magic wear?
It's like water in the bottle but totally incredible natural looking coverage when on. Covers all sins too.
I'm combin. Oily t zone.

Allthingsprettyreturns · 19/01/2014 07:49

EL invisible something or other.

FoxyHarlow123 · 19/01/2014 08:12

Clinique even better or boots botanics bb

JoanRanger · 19/01/2014 08:32

Boots No. 7 Matte – also had the colour chosen for me by the handy little electric gadget. The match is AMAZING. Using Smashbox primer underneath it.

buttercrumble · 19/01/2014 08:50

Revlon photo finish is fab and only a tenner

GlitzAndGiggles · 19/01/2014 08:56

I love the No. 7 range I last used an illuminating foundation with medium coverage it was nice and lightweight

Sparklysilversequins · 19/01/2014 09:02

Clarins firming foundation is perfect for my skin.

HaymitchAbarnathy · 19/01/2014 09:08

I'm on more of a budget than other posters it seems and I use bourgeois healthy mix serum, the gel one and apply it with a real techniques brush. I also use mua matte perfect primer underneath. If I could afford it I'd use smash box photo finish primer but it's too pricey for my budget at the moment. I've also used the 17 photo flawless primer and it's pretty good too and also dead cheap.

kerstina · 19/01/2014 09:57

I like Bourjois healthy mix too but I have not tried loads of foundations and only really put it on eye area. I really wanted to like Clinique 'even better' as used to use super balanced but it just made my eye make up smudge as it seemed so oily.

NearTheWindmill · 19/01/2014 10:01

No 7. Had the colour test too. Am using the stuff in the little pot that's combined foundation and powder. Have been getting lots of compliments too. Have used No 7 since I had the DC (19 years ago) when I decided I couldn't justify spending on the big names any more. I don't think there's any difference tbh. except for mascara; I still use Lancome mascara

MrsMeow · 19/01/2014 10:04

MAC Studio Fix gives good coverage and is quite matte so no shine. It's the only foundation I've ever re-purchased.

Halfling · 19/01/2014 10:36

After many hits and misses, I have settled on Clinique Even Better Makeup SPF15 Foundation. It does not cake or flake and gives a dewy medium coverage, enough to allow me to go concealer free on a lot of occasions.

swooosh · 19/01/2014 10:49

Many thanks, lots to think about. I use the Benefit Pore-fessional primer which is silicone based I believe!

Glad it's not just me having problems with DW later, perhaps they changed the formula.

Has anyone used the Illamasqua foundation? Reviews quite varied, seems full coverage and matte, what I'm after. Just means I'll actually have to venture INTO London rather than just to Stratford.

I use MAC tinted moisturiser which gives really good coverage and isn't as heavy as a foundation. It also doesn't dry my skin out.

AntoinetteCosway · 22/01/2014 13:43

Theres

AntoinetteCosway · 22/01/2014 13:44

Oops. There's a good list of silicon based foundations here:

Hi swooosh.. illamasqua foundation is fabulous!! I'm a makeup artist and this is the only foundation I put in my kit.. they have several different types depending on the type of coverage your looking for.. light liquid is brilliant.. not at all heavy but tends to need a bit more concealer.. rich liquid is exactly that.. very thick for super high coverage.. Skinbase is an in between consistency.. perfect for all skin types,, ages etc.. they have a huge variety of shades from pure white to very dark so your sure to find match..

Jaffacakesallround · 22/01/2014 15:39

Ive got NARS Glow but it's not glowy. It's almost matte.
It's ok but the colours are not great for me. Gobi is too pale and yellow but all the others are too dark or pink. It does give good coverage and if you have oily skin their matte one might be good for you.

Some of the Bobbi Brown compact foundations are worth a look and Clarins foundations are nice too- quite underrated imo- but again, for me it's all about shades and they are all just too pink and dark.

wools · 22/01/2014 16:10

I use Bare Minerals Matte (not original - looks terrible on me) and I love that it looks like I'm not wearing any make up. I'm on my 4th pot now. I hate it when foundation settles in the lines.

swooosh · 22/01/2014 16:43

Many thanks for all the suggestions! Now to decide and try..
