Dress help

Can anyone help, I am looking for a dress to wear to a wedding reception in a few months time? I am a size 12, and tall.
I rarely get invites to weddings, parties etc so no idea what to wear.
Anyone got any suggestions?

Where to start? What dress styles do you like? Where do you like to shop? I'd buy something that you can dress up for the reception and dress down for every day wear afterwards

I am pretty clueless, open to any dress suggestions really. Unhelpful I know!!
Your suggestion of buying one I could dress up or down is good.
If it is any help then I am in my late 20's.
I am happy to buy clothes from anywhere really, I tend to get things from next since they have a fairly good tall range.

Dorothy Perkins do a tall range which is quite good imo. They also do loads of dresses - perhaps have a look at the website?

If you're really not sure then it might be worth popping to a department store and using the personal shopper service?
