Interview shoe help!

Hello, I have a job interview for an estate agent coming up - haven't had an interview for years and this is a completely different field so I'm unsure what to wear. I have a smart black dress to wear. Just above the knee, capped sleeves, fitted at the waist but quite flowy with a high collar (if that makes any sense). Is it ok to have a bit of bling on my shoes? The shoes I have are black high court shoes with a delicate gold and rhinestone chain ankle strap. Does that sound ok? I'm all out of plain high heels apart from chunky boots that don't suit the dress at all.

The ankle strap renders the shoes completely inappropriate for a job interview.

Really? Bugger. Trouser suit and boots it is then. Didn't realise you had to wear boring plain shoes for an interview.

It's not about being boring, it's about being appropriate. Gold ankle straps are more suitable for night time wear, not for a job interview. By all means, ignore me and wear them, but I (and others) don't deem shoes like this suitable for office wear, especially in an interview situation.

Job interview dressing is about looking smart, appropriate and blending in with the environment you're hoping to be part of. Once you're there, then you can dress how you like.

No, that's fine, sorry for sounding flippant. I appreciate the advice. Smile

I'd agree, it's the evening wear aspect rather than the need to be boring - IME anyway. But then I've worn my Irregular Choice scotty dogs to an interview with an otherwise simple suit and red shirt. Also worn pink shoes!
