Does this bra exist?

fedupandfifty · 12/01/2014 18:37

I'm looking for a bra that is non-wired, has the comfort of a sports bra, is glamorous, and black ( or easily matchable). Nork size: 36B.

Does it exist?

It sounds awful. Please measure it will make it much easier to help you

fedupandfifty · 13/01/2014 16:17

Love those triangles! I think the other one would give more support, though. Better go shopping for a 32 d !

Thanks again, all.

ilovepowerhoop · 13/01/2014 16:26

dont buy the 32D without measuring yourself first as that may not be your size at all.

HazeltheMcWitch · 13/01/2014 16:28

Fedup - listen to Sorrel and Statistically - they know of what they speak! Do honestly measure as per links, and brave Bravissimo for fitting or measuring. And maybe look at some of the bra intervention threads to see other posters' Eureka moments.

I was in a 34b. I am now a 28f or 30e dép on brand. Shock Grin I finally braved Bravissimo over Xmas... I first posted my measurements in error September. It took me that long to build up the bottle as I was sure I'd be laughed out of the store as I'm really not what you'd call blessed in the norkal department!

Anyway they were lovely. No one laughed. I bought bras. Back at work last week I was asked if I'd lost weight, 'done something' ie had implants. Er no and no. All down to my new bras.

'Scuse the essay but I am a bit happy about the difference it's made. No more back fat, no more side fat...

HazeltheMcWitch · 13/01/2014 16:30

New bras have not improved my typing alas. I did not post my stats in error, just in September.

CMOTDibbler · 13/01/2014 16:31

I'm like Hazel - always thought I wasn't blessed with norks. Sorrel and Statistically got me to change the 34b for a 30ff, and I felt like a fraud walking into Bravissimo.

I look fab, and no more strap slipping either!

HazeltheMcWitch · 13/01/2014 16:45

Omg the strap slipping! I thought I just had oddly small shoulders! I mean they are small but they can now cope with bra strap so no more rummaging required.

StatisticallyChallenged · 13/01/2014 17:05

Fedupandfifty, don't jump to a 32D as there is a pretty good chance that's the wrong size. It's a total guess.

fedupandfifty · 13/01/2014 18:11

Can't believe thread is still going. I'm getting a bit carried away now. Will definitely go for fitting before committing.

Just one other thing: I compared another bra I bought in Peacocks(34b) against my 36b one (by laying them both out on the bed) and there's about 4 inches' difference in the length of band!

Just remarking. Something not quite right there..

OP posts:
MadBusLady · 13/01/2014 18:13

Don't go for a fitting! If you go anywhere other than Bravissimo they will probably do it completely wrong. Just use these guidelines and tell us your measurements and we can suggest sizes:

fitting guidelines

ilovepowerhoop · 13/01/2014 18:27

why did you buy a smaller (relative) cup size? A 34B will be smaller in the cup than a 36B. If the cup was ok in the 36B then when you downsize the back you need to go up in the cup size to get the same volume of cup e.g. 36B has the same cup volume as 34C, 32D, 30DD, 28E, etc, etc

StatisticallyChallenged · 13/01/2014 18:38

Bras can be pretty inconsistent between brands, and it could also be that the fabrics have different degrees of stretch.

Genuinely, it sounds like you are probably trying bras that are miles away from your true size. As MadBus says, if you want a fitting go to bravissimo, or John Lewis at a push. Almost everywhere else gets it badly wrong...and that most definitely includes big names like M&S

fedupandfifty · 13/01/2014 19:16

I love I'm just a bit thick. Must be, because until now I truly did not realise that cup sizes are not the same. I went from a 34b to a 36b because I honestly thought that, as I had put on a bit of weight, that a 36 would be bigger in the back whilst nork size remained the same. I did not realise that a b in a 34 would require a different cup size in a bigger bra.

Fifty four years on this planet, in the wrong bra!

OP posts:
StatisticallyChallenged · 13/01/2014 19:22

You're not thick - most people don't know how bras work really. It doesn't help that you have shops like M&S getting it very wrong (I'm a 30HH, they put me in a 36f!) and the papers publishing utter nonsense about celeb bra sizes.

This website is quite good for showing what real bra sizes look like

ilovepowerhoop · 13/01/2014 19:36

life-but-better.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/your-bra-doesnt-fit.html - this explains about 'sister sizes' and has images of the same cup sizes on different band sizes

fedupandfifty · 14/01/2014 11:03

Thanks so much. I think at last I'm beginning to get it. I need a more supportive band! I thought that the support came from the cup, and that the bigger the cup, the more support there would be.

Can't believe Marksies gets it so wrong, though. No wonder they're losing money..

OP posts:
StatisticallyChallenged · 14/01/2014 11:49

They're properly useless

HazleNutt · 14/01/2014 12:07

Based on the bra threads, 99,9% of 34-36 A-B wearers are in the wrong size. Thanks to M&S and 99,9% online bra size calculators.
(a friend just told me - she lost some weight, so re-measured herself and tried some of those calculators. According to them, she should be about 38A. She's 32FF).

Ladyface · 14/01/2014 12:11

Try Triumph soft sensation, not the most glamourous of bras but may be what you are looking for.

SparklingMuppet · 14/01/2014 12:25

So have you actually measured yourself yet Fedup? Please do and put them here, Statistically and Sorrel really, really do know what they're talking about, you do not need to go to M&S or anywhere else for that matter.

fedupandfifty · 14/01/2014 14:32

Yessparkling. I'm 30 underneath norks and 36 around them. That's with clothes, though.

OP posts:
HazleNutt · 14/01/2014 14:52

clothes off would be better, but honestly, no wonder you're looking for a comfortable bra, those 36B's must be horrible to wear.
You need at least 30E, but possibly bigger cup, as if you measured with that 36B on then it's unlikely you would get an accurate measurement there.

Or do you have Bravissimo near you? They will sort you out.

StatisticallyChallenged · 14/01/2014 14:57

Yup agree with Hazle do the dangling over measure

fedupandfifty · 14/01/2014 15:03

I'll get to Bravissimo and/ or dangle as instructed!

OP posts:
HesterShaw · 14/01/2014 15:03

This OP?

I just bought this in size 30D. Very comfortable. Wires were upsetting me!
