Help me oh stylish ones. I'm due back from mat leave soon and when I look at my work clothes I sigh. I want some lovely new things to make me feel all smart and confident rather than mumsy -and sleep deprived-.

Office job, needs to be smart but not suits.

I suit fairly fitted stuff and nothing too out there. I'm about 5 5, size 8, 30e boobs atm as still bf. I suit warm browns, creams. I'm 30 and not particularly trendy.

I went shopping the other week and found one dress in Oasis and nothing else. Where shall I go now, I feel all out of touch with normal clothes!

I've just typed a long post and lost it :(
I'm in a similar situation, back in May but have already been spending- needed cheering up when seriously sleep deprived courtesy of DD.

I've bought this

mango dress

me + em dress

And a couple of bargainous suit jackets in the hobbs sale.

I'm 5'7 and size 8-10.

Oh, I ordered a couple of pairs of trousers directly from mango but they haven't arrived yet.

Boo to lost posts. I like those, thanks (though I may have worn too many wrap dresses for bf!). And I'd forgotten about asos, I need to take a proper look. I think shopping is excellent recompense for sleep deprivation.

Try gap for work shirts. 20 percent off today. They are smart but not too stuffy.

Belindaearl2 · 09/01/2014 18:48

Next have a few smart dresses, & "ultimate straight leg trousers".

Pumpkintopf · 09/01/2014 20:56

Can I join in? Going back to proper office work next week after 10 years running my own very casual home-based company.....tried on my old pre kids work suits yesterday, some hideousness there- most have gone in charity bag leaving me with
2 trouser suits
2 wrap dresses
A couple of jackets.
Wondering what to buy??

glorious · 09/01/2014 21:10

Lots of good ideas, thanks.

pumpkin how about some seperates so skirts/trousers and nice tops/jumpers and cardies if not too informal. Pick a pallette and get a few to mix and match?

Thanks glorious I think picking a palette is a great idea. i'm kind of waiting to see what everyone in the office wears although the boss at interview seemed to favour the jacket and shift dress combo so that may work...

glorious · 09/01/2014 21:24

Can't go wrong with a shift dress imo. If only I could find some I like!

I got this bargainous shift dress last week for my post-mat leave capsule work wardrobe, and I'm v pleased with it.

glorious · 09/01/2014 22:17

oh that's nice, might give it a go. What colour did you get? Wondering how bright the purple is

Really like that dress Greatsoprendo - have ordered a few things from House of Fraser as a result. Fingers crossed I like them when they arrive! Thank you Smile

Cocochops · 23/01/2014 12:21

Bump also looking. Am after dresses and jackets. Have seen lots of lovely dresses in black which does not suit me at all. Anyone seen any nice non black dresses?

ShreddedHoops · 23/01/2014 12:52

I have just rtw and had to buy a whole new wardrobe! I went for dresses dresses dresses. All sale or Ebay finds, from Hobbs, Laura Ashley and Me and Em. I have about ten now and that should do me until at least the summer - they are all good with opaques and boots and will work later with bare legs and low heels. A fair outlay at first, but I won't need to buy lots of separates and layers so I think a good plan. Plus I don't have to think in the morning - just grab a dress, whatever's clean! Do make sure you avoid dry clean only stuff - I bung everything on a handwash cycle in the machine.

I would buy a bag and a watch frpom Fossil
