Styling a leopard print dress

So in a moment of madness I bought this dress on eBay.

My very kind friend said I am simultaneously 10 years too young and 20 years too old to wear it (I am 40). Is she right? How would you style it?

BTW I am short (5'2") and size 10.

Thanks :)

I have a dress a bit like that - I think the key is to go very minimal and basic with it. I wear it with black tights and black shoe boots and basic plain earrings.

I would go for black opaque tights, a fine knit black cardy and a pair of flat brogues. Bright red satchel.
I'm trying to decide on one I've seen on ebay too.

I'm also 5ft2 and a size 8/10 btw

Thank you :)

Boot shoes would not be a good look with my short chunky legs, could I wear black knee high boots?

definitely keep it simple. As others have said, black opaques and simple shoes and jewellery. If you over accessorize, you run the risk of looking a bit.... Bet Lynch Shock

I'm afraid I came on to say "no knee-high boots", that takes you into classic territory which makes it look like you're taking the dress seriously rather than treating it as a bit of fun .

I would go for black ballet flats and perhaps controversially a slouchy boyfriendish cardy in maybe grey. Though shoe boots would also be good and should be perfectly flattering with opaques the same colour, the heel height is what will elongate your legs.

Ok, no knee high boots. And no garish gold jewellry or beehive hair do's Wink

I'm not a huge fan or ballet flats, could clumpy loafers work?

I have a dress very similar to that. I wear it with low top trainers or brogues and black tights. If its cold i put a slouchy jumper on top, i don't like cardigans with dresses.

I have a dress in a similar print, although a looser cut. I wear opaque tights, ankle or biker boots, a polo neck underneath, a hand knit cardigan over the top. Also like it with a cream Aran boyfriend knit, it seems to be a combination of rock chick and homespun IYSWIM.

Thank you all, it's dispatched, not arrived yet. Am looking forward to it now.
