I am ashamed to say I went a bit crazy. In my defence, I was on a spending ban from dec 2012 until Nov 2013. I've ended up spending almost 2 weeks' wages. Wallet has closed for the next 6 months at least.

What shall I do for penance? Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa....

I reckon I must have spent about £350. My wallet has now closed too Sad.

Apatite1 · 08/01/2014 15:29

Erm. I spent way more than you dexter (too afraid to actually say it now) I've gotten all the boots (7), handbags (5) and leather jackets (4) I'll ever need though. All classic stuff so I'll be wearing them for many years, fingers crossed. I did save up for this spree and have calculated out an average discount of 44%. Might have to do some extra shifts at work now!

Don't worry about justifying the cost. If it is stuff you will wear and love, and you haven't had to sell one of your kids to afford it then enjoy it!

EasterHoliday · 08/01/2014 15:41

SEVEN pairs of boots? talk me through them... (I spent about £300, subject to a return that still has to go back to Matches adn may take it down to £200... undecided on a dress)

dexter73 · 08/01/2014 15:45

I have 7 pairs of boots too -
1 x brown Uggs
1 x black knee length boots
1 x brown calf length boots
1 x brown ankle boots
1 x black ankle boots
1 x grey ankle boots
1 x black shoe boots

EasterHoliday · 08/01/2014 15:49

I'm sure I have at least seven, but never in one glorious hit... (how many went to the charity shop?)

Buzzardbird · 08/01/2014 15:50

Bad taste in my mouth trying to figure out the purpose of this thread? Hmm

Apatite1 · 08/01/2014 15:58

No great purpose, buzzard bird, perhaps you can eat something sweet for your mouth? I only had one pair of boots before the spree, dexter. So I'm just playing catch up really.

What did you buy Easter? Unfortunately, I can't buy standard width boots, so I have wait till duo has a sale and then stock up.

Not a penny Sad

I rarely never shop in the January sales.

Do most of you save up for your spree?

Apatite1 · 08/01/2014 16:08

Yes, definitely bumblequeen. I never shop outside the sales, and I put money away for months beforehand. I blew my budget though this year, otherwise I wouldn't have felt guilty as I work hard and I think I deserve some treats.

After being on a spending ban from the end of Oct, I only spent £150 on a handbag reduced from £250 at a local boutique - looking forward to all the new stuff coming in, I find the sales too frenetic so I don't usually go anywhere near them.
My New Years resolution is to only buy stuff that makes my heart race and I can never think straight when I'm faced with a big discount - do I love it or do I love the thought of a bargain? Too many times it's been the latter.
Would love to have the patience and energy to do the sales properly though.

PurpleSprout · 08/01/2014 16:52

About £800 quid, but I needed to replace my winter coat (which isn't an every year thing) & also needed boots, jeans and shoes for the office, so a few more expensive items to buy.

I tend to spend a reasonable amount when I shop, but I don't shop often, and go for quality so my clothes last. I don't specifically save for the sales, but I can see going in how healthy my current account balance is and plan accordingly.

I had actually planned to spend more as I need a new suit (failed on that front) and I spent way less on my coat than I had budgeted (though that was slightly offset by a pair of jeans with a slightly embarrassing price tag, but they suit me Blush).

I quite like 'nice stuff', but I don't particularly enjoy shopping iyswim.

EasterHoliday · 08/01/2014 16:55

I only buy online in the sales because there's none of the scuffling through the sale rail of crumpled sad clothes. It means I can only buy a few makes that I know will fit though - so lots of DvF (which I probably wouldn't buy full price anyway)

Apatite1 · 08/01/2014 17:05

I had to take my young cousins to Westfield, what a nightmare! I shop online too.

My mum gave me £200 for Christmas and the rest came out of the current account.

AmberNectarine · 08/01/2014 17:09

About £1500 but that does include two handbags (Phillip Lim and Balenciaga) so I think I did ok for the money!

Apatite1 · 08/01/2014 17:11

Oh, can you share which ones amber?

OP posts:
dexter73 · 08/01/2014 17:14

I would like to see your bags too Amber. After never being a bag person, dh bought me a lovely Coach bag for Christmas and I am started to get hooked on bag porn.

Apatite1 · 08/01/2014 17:20

It's a slippery slope dexter. I do like to live vicariously through other people's lovely bags too....

OP posts:
Bumblequeen · 08/01/2014 17:46

Amber £1500 Shock

BuggedByJake · 08/01/2014 17:51

I've been very good, spent about £200. Still looking though & waiting for further mark downs.

milk · 08/01/2014 17:55

M&S: £4 (DS dressing gown)
H&M: £7 (4 basic long sleeve tops for me)
Asda: £3 (DH trousers)

£14 ftw :)

chanie44 · 08/01/2014 17:57

I spent nothing. The sales don't do it for me anymore - I don't have the money to spare for a spree and I don't like rummaging.

GossamerHailfilter · 08/01/2014 17:57

A pair of boots from Jones and a top from Fat Face.
