Just commented on the ageing eyes thread and it occurred to me my mouth is the oldest thing in my face! Lips are dry and crusty and getting thin.

I've never really found a lip balm that doesn't dry and pucker my lips and I've tried a LOT.

how about the vaseline lip stuff in round tin? also the soap and glory motherpucker will swell your lips up. For lip exercises, try saying 'pear' just moving top lip and 'prune' just moving bottom lip - do this a few times a day, followed by just focussing on the corners of your mouth turning up - do that a few times.

First step is getting some moisture back into your lips. It'll plump them up a fair bit. Best thing ever IMO is Lanolin. Sold as nipple cream/balm in the baby section of Boots under the name Lansinoh.

Vaseline is a barrier cream to stop moisture getting out but also moisture getting in. It has a smoothing effect so gives the impression of moisturised lips without adding anything. It's fine if your lips just need protecting from the elements but if they're already dry/chapped you'll probably need something extra.

I've been surprised at how lovely the Maybelline Babylips balms are actually. Good for during the day over and under your usual lipstick.

After that there are creams for around the mouth and cosmetic fillers etc but I don't know much about them. Smile

I use vaseline pink bubbly lip therapy but my lips are in good condition, so as the other poster pointed out, vaseline can be used for maintain your lips once they look lovely.

For a matte look I also use Dior creme de rose which smells divine but also works brilliantly. It's out of stock in Boots at the moment and I hope it's not discontinued as I love it so much.

Thanks all, will definitely try the nipple cream, that sounds an amusing thing to have in your handbag Grin Makes sense about the Vaseline, that never seems to help.
