Good makeup for 44 yr old skin - help!

I have a voucher for £100 for a very posh shop in Dublin (BT's for anyone Irish!), and am considering updating my makeup from £10 BB creams to something a bit nicer.

I'm 44, have OK skin, like the 'dewy' look. What would be your must have item/brand for foundation etc for the slightly older skin?

I used a tinted moisturiser from Clinique about 8 years ago which I liked but it wouldn't have enough coverage for me now.

Also - make up application - I read somewhere that a foundation brush is much better than fingers or a sponge - should I invest in a good set of brushes?

Lucky you. My latest love is Chanel Aqua Vitalumiere. Light-ish cover, but it does cover, and light reflective so it gives a glow. I love it. I bought it before Xmas and still love it. The blurb says to apply with fingers.
But get a sample first.

Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser. The one in the tube for a very light, natural finish; the compact sort for a more even, made uplook. I love both of these (am43).

Clarins Skin Illusion and a Real Techniques Expert Face brush

YSL youth liberator foundation is good. YSL are happy to give samples too so worth having a chat with them and get colour matched. Gives a nice dewy finish without being too shiny.

OK am going shopping at lunchtime, wish me luck!
Thanks a mill for all the input.
