I love them

Fargo is my favourite film, and I'm old enough to have known some twerps, but although I like these boots (with skinnies and parka) they're not washable enough to be classed as practicable.

NoComet · 03/01/2014 19:13

I would look like a twerp, because I'm too roundshouldered and dumpy to wear the sort of winter top those boots need to balance them.

If you can wear a big fur hooded Parker or Gillett, a coat with a big fur collar or a big chunky sweater and scarf and maybe a hat you won't look a twerp.

If your feet look ready for snow, but you wear my fairly fitted, suitable for September or April quilted black jacket, you will look a twerp. Add a Arran hat and chunky scarf and you won't.

I have these boots- strictly for really wet days and snow, the days when comfort and practicality outweighs style (although I realise that's a state that only age can bring).

They are warm and comfy, I hate Wellies so these are better for me. They are not too obviously crocs but do say it on them. A bit slippy on shiny ground (like popping in a shop) but overall good.

I got them quite cheap on Amazon too. But like I say- only for when the weather requires waterproof footwear!

strongurgetofly · 03/01/2014 19:56

I have similar boots from timberland. They are sturdy, fully waterproof and great for hiking as well as cold snowy town days. People always compliment them despite the fact that they're not particularly glam.

I know a lot of women who wouldn't be seen dead in Boots like this because they're not sexy enough but I don't care about sexy when I'm out and about in bad weather, I just want to be warm and comfy.

In the right weather and circumstances you can't look a twerp in appropriate footwear!

i normally wear a wool coat and boots with a small heel but anticipating bad winter weather i bought a parka . My usual boots dont look right with it and i wanted something flat anyway but still want to look half decent .
i might order some and see . i have some wellies but they are cold !
