Eve Lom - have they changed formula lately?

I'm hoping I've just got a duff batch but my latest pot is not up to the usual standard at all. I'll be so gutted if they've changed it as it feels horrible! It is really hard and thick and doesn't melt to an oil, just goes to a thick paste that really pulls my skin around. It's irritated my eyes too.

Just wondered if anyone else has bought a pot recently and found similar?

Do you think I could / should take it back? I've used it twice.

Sometimes the texture does change if it's subjected to extreme temp changes (even hot lights on the display shelf for example), so it could have effected your pot. But even a different texture shouldn't change its formula / how it works.

But if your skin has reacted badly, then do take it back for an exchange. My pot is still going strong and i've not bought a new one recently, so I don't know if the formula has changed.

Eve Lom sold a couple of years ago to a big conglomerate (forget who), as a result standards are not what they were.

It does also change according to temp and weather.

Update - space NK were very decent about returning it in exchange for another one.. But I just opened the new one and it's just the same! Ugh. I'm actually gutted, this was my holy grail of skin care :(

Now I've got a very expensive pot of stuff I can't use and I need to start my search all over again.. Any ideas? I found equivalent products from Liz Earle awful to use and Neal's Yard was nice but didn't shift mascara.

Why do these companies have to change something that works perfectly?!

I have a beautiful balm cleanser from Jane Scrivner. (Buy online. ) similar texture to Lom as it used to be, perhaps a little softer, and smells much better!

ElizabethBathory · 03/01/2014 15:36

I bought a pot recently and it's very grainy - I just assumed it was something to do with the temperature, as when I rub it between my palms the grains disappear. I don't remember this happening when I used to buy it reguarly (5+ years ago) but it seems to be working the same as it used to.

Clinique cleansing balm is meant to be good - the reviews on MUA are amazing! Might try it next :)

Emma Hardie balm is nice or the Rose one from Ren.

UntamedShrew · 03/01/2014 19:18

Thanks for the tips! I like the sound of the Jane Scrivener one. Always found Clinique a but harsh - but actually that's based on experiences 20 (!) years ago so maybe it is me who is being harsh :)

Annebronte I had a grainy one too once. I could live with that, like you, as it still worked really well. The new sticky hard stuff though is not good at all! So wish I hadn't bought the large pot, too... :(

Lush's Ultrabland is pretty close to Eve Lom, or was the last time I tried it. Superdrug's Vit E hot cloth balm is more of a conventional "cream" texture but I've found myself repeat-buying it for several months now. I also don't get on with Liz Earle, horrid stuff.

BitchyFestiveFace · 03/01/2014 20:18

Ultrabland for me, too, been using it for years.

OneMincePie2Many · 03/01/2014 20:22

Will Space NK not give you a refund? As it's reacting badly with your skin? Here's hoping..

shoom · 03/01/2014 20:31

Hopefully they'll let you return or swap the replacement if it's the same non-melting texture. I almost need a new pot myself. I've had different textures in the past but they've always melted. This is really disappointing. I hope you get it resolved.

Bearleigh · 03/01/2014 20:36

I would take it back and ask for a refund too.

UntamedShrew · 03/01/2014 21:23

You've spurred me on to try at least, will go over the weekend and see what they say. Not sure what's the deal legally in this situation but here's hoping...

Recently bought the biggest pot and it's fine , still melts as it's meant too. In the past I've had some which seem more grainy but they've always melted ok. Slightly off topic, does anyone use Eve Lom with a Clarisonic? Can you? I've found mixed answers online suggesting it clogs up the heads?
Thanks!

I had a problem with Eve Lom cleanser a few years ago - sounds similar. Grainy texture, and it dragged the skin. I contacted the head office and they exchanged it immediately with no problem at all. However, I started to use Liz Earle, and still do, although Spiezia's cleansing balm is now my top favourite - a lovely product.
