Just when I thought Next couldn't get anymore disappointing......(Tall rant)

The new directory arrived today.
I buy from the Tall range for trousers and was appalled to find they have massively reduced the Tall range.

All the more interesting ie contemporary trousers are not available in Tall length...there are the old black bootlegs , peach chinos and leggings galore though.

So frustrating.
Now shopping will be even more limited .

I have just returned the parcels of items I ordered in the sale as none of the items were what I wanted and even at sale price weren't a bargain as fit is appalling. Like you, I usually order from tall range, but think I am just going to give up completely with Next for clothing and shop elsewhere. Next seem to have lost their way sadly, used to spend lots there and now can rarely find anything.

dontcallmemam · 31/12/2013 17:03

MrsDB I have the same problem as you & I think the same inside leg not a stalker I promise, I just answered a question for you once.
I don't understand it either. There are loads of tall women about & so few places to buy long length trousers. Jeans don't seem to be a problem though.

Longleggedlovely · 31/12/2013 17:05

I thought exactly the same Sad but I have discovered J Crew, Banana Republic and Gap all now do long enough length to fit me for formal trousers and Lucky Brand for jeans.

PagingDrFaggot · 31/12/2013 17:09

Ah balls I love the next tall range . I am a very lazy shopper combined with living miles from civilisation means its easier to have it delivered to my door. Strange though as the tall range always seemed to do well and things went out of stock very quickly . Grumble grumble where am I going to get my maxi dresses and long enough in the arm cardigans now .

MrsDavidBowie · 31/12/2013 20:06

Exactly...the Tall range was always out of stock if you blinked.

Jeans not really a problem...it's slim trousers other than black I want!
Skinny chinos to wear with boots etc.

Well post on here ladies if you find any new places this spring.

I ordered stuff at the start of December- it still hasn't arrived! I have sent a snotty email today, pointing out Thai hoped to actually wear the items over Christmas so they can cancel the order. Really annoyed!

PersonalClown · 31/12/2013 21:52

Everywhere seems to be cutting their Tall range.
DP got rid of them from the shops and has very little online. Same with New Look.

It sucks to be 6ft tall and have a 35 inch inside leg.

gerbiltamer · 31/12/2013 22:23

Speaking as a big footed lass with a size 9/43 I have noticed that Next shoes no longer fit. I also cancelled my Directory a few weeks back.

CatAmongThePigeons · 31/12/2013 22:28

Next, DP and New Look have all cut their tall ranges and it sucks. It's difficult enough to find decent clothes for tall people anyway, without these stores culling their tall ranges

spanky2 · 31/12/2013 22:51

Next shoes don't fit me anymore . They used to, but they have made them really narrow. Also they are really expensive .

dizhin79 · 01/01/2014 06:59

Gutted, like u say the big standard High Street offerings are getting fewer by the day!

Dp also dropped off their maternity range aswell, I've had to order anything extra I've required online.

MrsDavidBowie · 01/01/2014 08:53

I am a narrow 43 and the shoes stopped fitting me about 5 years ago.
Cue more exasperated searching for shoes to fit. I have to shop mainly at Crispins for shoes (average price £150) and Duo for boots (£200)

I get pissed off not being able to go shopping to a big town ie Kingston, which is not short of shops, where there is not one shop which sells long length trousers or size 9 shoes.

I am not a Wallis fan, with its polyester timewarp tops, but I would expect them to do a long length trouser. Ditto Oasis and Warehouse.

I've almost given up buying clothes. I'm 5'10 with a 34" inside leg and feet inbetween a 43 and a 44. I tend to buy from TKMaxx and H&M. Don't like LTS' jeans as they have too much lycra and cling in all the wrong places. Oasis seemed to have long lengths in their HoF shop but it's so long since I've shopped there that I don't know if it's a genuine long leg.

Clarks have been my saviour. They now do most of their range in a 9, and it's a 43 nine, not a 42 as some places [hard stare at Debenhams] are now doing. They are narrow enough for me but also do a wide fit. I've also just ordered from Hotter shoes - most of their stuff is very mumsy but I got a lovely pair of fake leopardskin low wedges from there last week.

FadBook · 01/01/2014 09:41

My tactic this year has been to stop wearing trousers and wearing dresses Grin I actually got 4 dresses yesterday in the sales - Planet, Diesel and Tommy Hilfigure (sp?); all knee length and fit lovely.

I've never found Next Tall that 'tall' - their tops are not tall enough for me, I have a long torsoe as well as long legs.

MrsDavidBowie · 01/01/2014 09:59

Clarks are still too short for me in length.

I like fitted tunics (so shoot me), thick tights and knee high boots.

I actually wore a dress last night...a fitted black shift from Esprit I forgot I had, and had loads of complinents. I always think I look like a tranny in a dress and (low) heels.
Maybe dresses are the way forward.

Kernowgal · 01/01/2014 10:11

I should probably try dresses more, but they always seem such a faff, I dunno why. And yes, I always feel like a man in drag in a dress. We probably look lovely to everyone else!

FadBook · 01/01/2014 15:41

I got this one from Planet for work, it's very flattering.

CatAmongThePigeons · 01/01/2014 16:20

Yes to feeling like a man in drag when in dresses, I know we all probably don't but I know I get almost paranoid about it

Kernowgal · 01/01/2014 17:59

FadBook that is very nice. I'm off out to the sales again on Saturday so will wear tights and boots and try on a few dresses.

FadBook · 01/01/2014 18:39

That's exactly what I did Kernowgal - tights and ankle boots and it was good move! I got this one from Planet too and it looks far nicer on me than on the hanger!

Cat - I bet you don't look like drag at all. Dresses look great as long as you buy the right shape. I don't suit mini dress, halternecks, strapless or any kind of fancy detail in the cut. But wrap dresses, or ones that gather a little at the waist to give me the 'hour glass' shape, look lovely. I've found Planet just have the perfect cut for me.

CatAmongThePigeons · 01/01/2014 19:01

Those dresses are lovely FadBook, it is fab when you find a brand that suits you, will have to find a local Planet store and check them out

UterusUterusGhali · 01/01/2014 19:10

I'm average height, but with stumpy legs and a v long body. Next tall tops are too short for me and still ride up.

Hate next.

higgle · 01/01/2014 19:40

I wouldn't worry about the trousers, OP. I had a look at some tweed trousers in Next this week, they looked OK at first sight but the fabric was so flimsy and synthetic they felt like pyjama bottoms.

FadBook · 01/01/2014 20:06

I find Next and Topshop tall tops aren't tall enough either Uterus especially in the arms

purplegadget · 01/01/2014 22:41

I find it a nightmare finding formal work trousers long enough and small enough. I am a size 8 but don't have a massive waist with legs like pencils which is the standard Next shape so they are a no go. LTS don't do an 8 in many styles - I ordered the one pair (black of course) they did in an 8 but they were very strangely cut in the crotch, looked like they were designed for a bloke!
Eventually found a pair in good old M&S - still black of course! I can get away with M&S long in a slim leg style but when boot cut was all the rage they looked like ankle swingers.
Fortunately my workplace has gone casual for 2014 so it'll be my Gap jeans which are just about long enough in a slim leg.
Gap formal trousers are really big - I need a 6 (not that I measure a 6 at all) but do they come in long? Of course not!
People say 'it must be great being tall and slim' well yes, it is generally lovely but, rather frustrating at times not to be able to find clothes that fit.
