Do Next do decent socks? Or where else?

I have some Next vouchers and nothing particular in there catches my eye at the mo. I do need new socks though, so as boring as it sounds, do they have any decent ones? My current socks are all of the "5 pairs for £5" supermarket variety ... They're fine I guess but some do tend to work their way off my feet when wearing certain boots . So maybe I should get some better ones....any recommendations? Thanks Smile

My next socks tend to last as long as my sainsburys ones. Which is longer than bloody M&S - still cross about dh's Father's Day socks which didn't last till Easter! Hmm

Next are ok for their socks. Recently bought M&S and Tescos both slip off my feet and drive me nuts! Next have always been ok.

slippy socks happen imo when the socks contain no natural fibres. I prefer wool/silk/cotton mix and tbh think you get what you pay for- some of my faves are Falke which are about £9 a pair but worth it imo.

I go to TK Maxx and get some Pringle ones. They stay up and wash and wear well.

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 30/12/2013 11:32

The ones I brought for the dc are fine. They shrunk on the first wash but have lasted a whole school year.

H&M do good ones, warmer ones and also everyday socks. I got some in a sale the other week. Also got black glitter trim ones which wash and wear very well!

TKMaxx here too. Pringle or Ralph Lauren or whatever they have that seems good. Last way longer than any of the Next/M&S/etc. M&S are so bad that even DH who knows NOTHING about clothes, asked me never to buy him socks there again. (Seiously he knows nothing, not a thing, zero, zilch)

Gap socks are reasonably sturdy.

I got next "fashion" socks ( patterned) a month ago and they are all pilled now. I wouldn't buy again.

What about pjs or dressing gown to use a voucher?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 31/12/2013 13:05

Best socks ime are Hobbs. I only buy in the sales though. :)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 31/12/2013 13:05

Gap not bad - their childrens' ones are brilliant.
M&S used to be good, but no longer.

Rooble · 31/12/2013 13:08

Best socks I think are John Lewis men's merino socks. They have about 6 colours, are warm, well-made and last and last and last..... About £8 per pair but so worth it. You need to be at least foot size 6 though!

Love Seasalt stripey socks. They keep their shape well and wash well.
