Are coloured jeans over?

I went a bit mad for coloured jeans about 18 months ago, buying up multiple pairs of the M&S 5 pocket jeggings, but they are now starting to look a bit worn. I bought some jade skinnies from Oasis at the weekend which fit great but am wondering if the idea of coloured skinnies is a bit dated now? I tend to opt for jewel colours (jade, berry etc) but am quite tempted by the Boden shocking pink skinnies for £14.70! I'm 41, a size 8 and have reasonably long legs. I tend to wear coloured skinnies with Converse or ankle boots, for both work and play (with a blazer for work, with a knit or striped top for play). Thoughts? And what would be a good alternative?

Does it matter enormously? If they suit you and you like wearing them, then I'd wear them regardless of what is deemed to be 'in'. Apparently we can expect wide leg leather trousers and double breasted jackets to be high fashion this season, but neither of those will look anything short of hideous on me so I'll be sticking to skinnies. If you like them and think you'll get use for them, buy!

I love coloured skinnies and think Iwill be wearing them for the foreseeable. Really tempted by the Oasis jades, I'm tried the 10 and they looked okay, 8s were a little tight but I'm worried that the 10s will stretch to much over time. Would you mind reporting back as to how you got on with them.

Shocking pink sounds fab, my friend has a pair and she looks great in hers (but she would also look great in a binliner!)

Coloured jeans are good. They won't be looking dated for a while I think!

I like my jade ones and pink is a great choice!

I think they'll be around for a while yet. When something is very popular the trend does seem to last for a long time.

Thanks for your replies!

SecretLimonadeDrinker - I got a size 10 in the Oasis jade crops (I'm usually between 8 - 10 in skinnies) and I'm into my third day of wearing them and so far, so good! I usually spend all day hoiking up my other jeans and I've probably only pulled these up about three or four times today (but then I was out walking with a toddler and a dog in a forest today...). I'm hoping they will shrink a bit in the wash as they are slightly too big, but not annoyingly so. I'm tempted to hunt out another colour when Oasis have further reductions in the sale.

God I hope not! have a number of pairs I still love to wear and am not willing to give up yet.

I might bin my cobalt blue ones, they look dated, but the sand and berry ones will get plenty more wear in 2014.

I love my coloured skinnies. I miss my mustard and red pairs as I'm currently too pregnant to fit in them right now. I also have berry and emerald ones from river island. And have bought grey and teal cord skinnies in the h and m sale.

Thanks for the tip on the boden btw. Smile
