Spots for the first time in my 30s

So, I managed to get through all of my teenage years with no acne. My skin's always been on the dry side.
But recently, I've had tons of spots. Mostly on my forehead, chin or round my mouth. Sometimes they are small and barely noticable (my skin quite often feels congested and pores blocked) but quite often they end up getting massive, red and really sore!

What's going on?! And how do I deal with it? I've browsed the spot treatment stuff in Boots...do I really need Clearasil at the age of 36? Can anyone recommend any good concealers?

I've changed nothing in my skincare regime by the way. I've always used a fragrance free facial wash, like Simple and a bog standard moisturiser (Olay or Nivea usually, anything with SPF). I use Nivea Soft at night and scrub about once a week.

This sounds exactly like me! Started a thread a while ago, apparently spots around the mouth are due to hormone levels.
I haven't found a cure yetHmm

You're not pregnant are you?! My skin sounds like yours ... always on the dry side, never any spots until the day I got pregnant. Now they're breaking out all over the place! I've found Lush's Ultrabland cleanser has helped a little and I put a dab of tea tree oil on the really bad ones, but nothing is shifting them completely so I'm watching this thread with interest.

Go to your GP. Same thing happened to me and they gave me a topical antibiotic and aural one. Spots cleared up in few weeks. Stopped aural but kept up topical for a few months - cured!

You can go to the drs for spots - don't bsuffer and dont feel daft.

darksparrow my experience was the same as yours. I developed troublesome spots (acne really) in my late twenties having escaped it in my teenage years. I went to the doctors, and the topical antibiotic I was given worked pretty well. I used it intermittently for a few years.
