Foundation Brush

I recently changed hair colour and needed to change all my make up. I ended up buying a foundation brush from Clinique as I liked the finish it gave. However, I have never bothered with one previously and have no idea how to clean it or how often to clean it! Does anyone have hints and tips?

Baby shampoo is best for them.

I do mine once a week or every other week if I'm being lazy.

Agreed. Use a gentle shampoo - don't bother with expensive brush cleaners even MUAs dont use them

Hold the brush hairs under running water but avoid getting the join between the handle and hairs wet (where the hairs sit in the metal casing) as this will loosen the glue over time and cause the bristles to shed. Massage about 5-10p size of shampoo in with your fingers, again avoiding the join. Then rinse.

Remove excess water gently on a towel but do not bend or pull/twist at the hairs. Lie it flat to dry and your brush will retain it's shape.

A good brush, when cared for properly will last you years. It's an investment! HTH.

Oh and once a week is fine! If you are particularly worried about bacteria (skin problems, clean freak) then you can spritz surgical spirit onto the hairs in between, (don't saturate it) and tissue it off to kill any surface germs. Just pour some SS into a boots spray bottle.

Brilliant. Thank you! Off to wash it now.
